Who Left The Door Open

I opened my eyes to the dimly lit dungeon to see James to my left eating breakfast. I opened my eyes a bit more and remembered what today was.

   The wedding!

I jolted up looking around to see Rain sitting in the chair outside my cell. He was in a different suit then he was normally in, this one being more fancy then the other one.

"You alright?" Asked James with a small snicker.

"Today is the wedding!" I spoke breathlessly, my voice filled with anxiety.

"I know. You both don't seem to excited about this."

"I just don't want him to be married to somebody he doesn't love. He deserves better." I told him truthfully. I saw him cock an eyebrow at me with a small weak smile.

"Are you the better?" He asked giggling a bit.

"What? No, of course not! How could I be good enough for him?" I asked James shocked.

"I don't know, you both seem to like each other a lot." He shrugged. Memories of the night prior flooded my head. I felt my face go all warm but I tried not to show it.

"What happened last night?" Rain asked intreated and confused.

"Uhh, nothing." I stammered embarrassed. He then looked at James for answers.

"Nothing happened." He raised his hands in defense.

"Did you see Swiss?" He asked. I nodded. "What happened?" He asked with a glint in his eye. It was weird seeing how invested he was.

"Nothing really, he just stopped by." I stuttered out.

"Did he say anything?"

"No." Me and James said quickly at the same time. We both looked at each other and smiled.

A few minutes after a weird silence we heard footsteps coming down the stairs.

"Rain, Swiss needs you in his room!" The voice called down from the bottom of the staircase. I didn't know who it was so I assumed it was just a worker. I felt my face go pale.

   It's almost time.

"Well I'll see you two later." He waved and smiled. I hear the footsteps go up the stairs then James started giggling.

"You look like you've seen a ghost."

"Oh shut up." I mumbled into my knees as I pulled them to my chest.

"No I get it though, the love of your life is getting married." I could hear his smile. I let out a groan of annoyance.

"He is not the love of my life!" I exasperated.

"Hmm, sure." He spoke not believing me. I groaned again before putting my head back onto the wall and closing my eyes and tried to forget about what was happening.

I just want to have Dusk back. I thought before I drifted off.

I was being shaken. I didn't know what was happening but I kept hearing wake up, wake up! Over and over again. I groggily opened my eyes to a royal mask in my face.

"Darling, wake up!" The voice whispered in distress still shaking me.
I knew it was Swiss but I couldn't think of any reason why he could be down here.

   "Wha-?"

"Come on, get up." He pulled me up to my feet.

"Swiss what is happening?" I whispered with urgency.
