There has to be at least a hundred people in this room and the kingdom over hasn't even shown up yet. I was stood in the corner as I watched the masked people eat and dance. The king and queen had sat in two throne like chairs at a long table with two similar chairs next to them. I had heard people talking as they passed by saying that this was a party meant to celebrate the alliance between these two kingdoms.
So this is what Aether was helping with. I thought as I lifted the fabric of my mask and took a sip of the wine. Then the room went quiet with small whispers. The doors flung open to reveal a tall woman with long grayish blond hair and a man stood next to her who had shortish black hair. Next to the two of them, on either side were two tall men with silver masks but unlike the royal guard, these didn't have an opening for the mouth.
I've seen him before. Where do I know him from? My eyes followed them as they took their seats at the table. Swiss was sat next to his wife on the other side of the two royals that had just walked in. There was another table next to that one which had all of Swiss's friends at it. The room itself was littered with round tables that could fit around five to seven people. This only caused me to be more uncomfortable because I had no idea where to sit seeing as everyone I knew didn't know I was here. I did however keep my eyes out for Terzo.
The room went quiet as the king tapped his fork on his glass. "This is a toast to the new alliance and friends of this kingdom. I am honored to have this marvelous opportunity and partnership with a kingdom like this, to which we will help each other out. Cheers to Queen Imperator and her son Prince Terzo!" The king then had his glass filled and the whole room erupted with praise. My eyes went wide at his announcement. I looked straight at Terzo who was talking to his mother but I saw through the eye holes of his mask that he looked at me. I wasn't even mad about this because he still didn't know my name so I couldn't help but let out a small laugh at the realization.
He then took a sip from his glass and walked over to me. Both of The queens looking the entire time. Talking to each other. I could see the smiles on their faces as Terzo approached me.
"Phoebe?" He asked as he got closer and I shook my head.
I let out a laugh. "I- uh." I couldn't think on how to tell him this. "That's not actually my name." I admitted and he let out a small breathy chuckle.
"Guess we were both hiding things." He awkwardly rubbed the back of his neck.
"I'm (Y/n) and yeah, I guess we were." I crossed my hands over each other.
"(Y/n), what a lovely name." He said softly as he took my hand in his. I could feel the stares of the crowd on us but I didn't care. They didn't know who I was. For all they new I was another noble like them. "That dress looks stunning on you." His arm ran up the sleeve of my dress. "I bet it would look better with your mask off." He leaned in to whisper in my ear. I've never been so lucky to have a mask on.
"I could say the same about you. You suit looks wonderful." I whispered back.
"You should see me without it." He smirked.
"Terzo!" I gasped. "People could definitely hear us if they wanted to!" My voice came out raspy.
"They won't care. Come, you can sit next to me."
"I don't think that's a good idea." I mumbled.
"If the king questions it, we were childhood friends and your name is... Thiona."
"Thiona?"
"Yup."
"Do you think the queen will play along?" I asked, messing with the sleeves of my dress.
