(Quinjet, Y/n's POV)

One clap of thunder turns into two.

Three.

Four.

Loki winces every time the lightning illuminates our vessel.

"What? Surely you're not scared of a little lightning?" I taunt him.

"I can't say I'm particularly fond of what follows."

A quick peek into his mind, and I see one word exaggerated more than any other.

A name.

Thor.

"Oh great," Steve says and rolls his eyes.

"What is it?" Romanoff asks without taking her eyes off our flight path. "Another one from Asgard?"

"Yeah, this one's a good one though. Impeccable timing of course."

Tony hits a button to open the ramp at the back of the aircraft, before putting on his helmet to seal his suit.

"What the hell do you think you're doing?" I snap as I grab onto the framework when the wind whips through the space.

"What does it look like I'm doing? Preparing for the ballet?"

He edges towards the ramp, but is soon sent flying as a figure lands on the end of it.

The silhouette stands, and I make out long flowing hair, and a hand that holds a large steel hammer.

I know this is the one I saw in Loki's mind.

This is Thor.

"You," he says in a deep, booming voice with a finger extended, pointing at Loki. "You're coming with me."

"Well hello brother, it's lovely to see you too," he replies sarcastically.

"Brother?" Stark asks, having now recovered from his knock out. "That's just what we need."

Thor seems to have interest in nobody but his so-called brother.

"You're not taking him," I say as I grab onto Loki's cuffs.

"I'll take you too if I have to," is the response I get.

I hold Thor's stare, testing his threat, but he just shrugs and lurches forward, grabbing onto Loki and pulling both of us out of the plane with him.

The three of us fall through the sky, lightning bolts firing in the air, the ground inching closer and closer.

Thor falls gracefully, poised in such a way that he'll land on his feet. Loki and I, however, aren't quite so lucky.

I'm still holding onto the cuffs, but he uses this to maneuver us so he's falling beneath me. When we land, he hits the ground and land on top of him, protected from the harsh impact.

Interesting.

"Mm," he groans from under me. "Wouldn't recommend that to a friend. Floor's a bit too hard for my liking."

"Move," Thor says sharply as he pushes me off Loki.

"Hey! Asshole."

But I'm ignored, and Loki is quickly hoisted off the ground by his cape collar.

"Where's the Tesseract?"

"I missed you too brother."

"Do I look to be in the mood for games? I thought you were dead," Thor hisses.

"And did you mourn?"

"We all did. Our father-"

"Your father," Loki quickly interrupts. "I do believe he told you of my true parentage?"

So they're not brothers? This is confusing.

"We were raised together, Loki. We played together. Do you remember none of that?"

"I remember living in your shadow," he spits out as he nears his face to Thor's in anger. "I remember you tossing me into the abyss. I, who was and is supposed to be king!"

"So? So you take the world I love as recompense for your imagined slights? No. The Earth is under my protection, Loki."

"It's not like you're doing a very good job of it," I mutter, but still I am ignored.

"You miss the truth of ruling, brother," Thor continues. "The throne would suit you ill."

Loki roughly pushes Thor away, and walks slowly to the edge of the cliff we all stand on. "I've seen worlds you've never known about. I have grown, Odinson, in my exile. I have seen the true power of the Tesseract, and when I wield it-"

"Who showed you this power? Who controls you? The would-be king."

"I am a king!"

"Not here you're not! Give up the Tesseract. Give up this poisonous dream!"

I sigh and allow myself to flop onto the floor. I sit, cross-legged, and rest my chin on my hands. "You're all so naïve. Nobody knows the true power of the Tesseract like I do. You don't know what it can do. You think you know. Everybody thinks that they know.... But no-one does. And no-one thinks to ask."

The two brothers look at each other, then finally turn their attention to me.

"Well?" Thor steps forward. "Enlighten us. Tell us the true meaning of the Tesseract. We'll listen."

"Well-"

I blink, and suddenly Stark comes flying through the air in his Iron Man suit, and he tackles Thor away from Loki and I.

"You see," I say and sigh to no-one in particular. "Nobody listens."

"I'm still here," Loki says and quickly kneels in front of me. "Tell me."

"You're the enemy."

"Am I though? You know, in your heart, that that's not the truth. There is no good and evil here, there is only peace."

"Hmm yeah, I dunno. I think we should save this story time for later," I say, then I tap my earpiece to get through to Natasha. "Romanoff, get us back into the jet would you?"

"Copy that. Be right down with you."

I nod triumphantly and stand up, grabbing Loki's cuffs and pulling him with me.

"Aren't you at least going to thank me?" He asks slyly.

"For what?"

"I saved you. If you'd hit the ground, your bones would have shattered and you'd be dead now."

"Eh, I guess you're right. Thank you Loki," I smile sweetly, then give him a quick pulse of electricity that sends him to his knees. "Now stay down."

He grins at me, and stays there until Romanoff comes to collect us in the jet.
