(Stark Tower, Y/n's POV)

"Now now, let's not be hasty," Loki backs slightly away from the Hulk, then turns and runs into the Tower.

"Go ahead big guy," Tin Man says, and Hulk goes chasing after him. "Right then y/n, it's time."

I look down at the mess beneath us. The rest of the Avengers are spread out amongst what remains of the streets, each surrounded by at least 30 Chitauri.

"Yeah, it's time."

"How exactly is this gonna work? What's gonna happen?"

"No clue Tin Man. I assume I do some crazy power shit, then I reverse the energy from the Tesseract to close the portal, but rather than it going back into the Tesseract..... it goes into me."

"What happens to you? Surely you can't take in that much energy?"

"Maybe I can, maybe I can't. There's only one way to find out, right?"

He puts a hand on my arm to stop me, "We've lost you once. I don't want to do it again."

"Stark, you were the only one who gave a damn about me. Besides," I shrug, "if I do die, at least I'll be with my parents again. Whatever happens, it's okay."

He pauses, but then nods and releases his hold on me.

I let out a deep breath then step up to the Tesseract, electricity spitting between my fingers.

"Okay then," I say quietly, and I place my hands on the shield surrounding the cube.

Pain.

I hold my arms crossed in front of me as he repeatedly tries to penetrate my shield with the cattle prod.

"What am I thinking?" he asks as he jabs it again and again.

"I don't..... I don't know. I can't hold this and do that at the same time."

"Yes you can. Focus."

He presses harder, and I can feel my barrier weakening.

I close my eyes as I try to concentrate.

"Uh, you're thinking about a secret weapon. And..... Thanos. Who's Thanos? Is he-"

I let out a gut wrenching scream as the prod connects with my neck. I hadn't even realised that my shield had dropped.

"You are weak child."

"No," I grunt in pain with tears falling from my eyes, "I'm not."

I reverse the power of the cattle prod like I did before, and I send Doctor List falling to the ground.

His assistant steps up to me and quickly snaps cuffs over my wrists, dampening my powers.

List stands, adjusts his lab coat, then signals to the two guards by the door, and they walk over to either side of my and grab an arm each.

"No. No please!" I scream as they start to drag me away. "I'm sorry. Please! No!"

They take me to the special cell - a place where I find myself far too often - and slam the door shut, trapping me in darkness between the four short walls.

I can't see a thing, and I can't use my power.

I'm left there for 3 days.

I open my mouth and release an agonised scream.

The shield is easy enough to break through, but taking in the power of the Tesseract is an intensity I've never felt in my life.

If what List did to me was fire in my veins, then this is lava. It's as though my insides are being corroded. Slowly, and painfully.

"Stop kid! It's gonna kill you, you have to stop."

I can't form words, my tongue melted in my mouth.

The portal is slowly closing above us, any Chitauri trying to pass through are getting severed in half.

"Y/n," I hear Rogers' voice next to me, but I can't see him. I can't see anything. "Y/n, let go. Don't do this."

Just a bit longer. A tiny bit longer and it'll be done.

I push myself to my absolute limit, until there's nothing left to take, and the portal closes.

"Out of the way!" A smooth voice says, and two strong hands catch me as I fall. "Come on darling, I've got you."

"Let her go Loki," says Thor's deep tone.

"Step aside brother so I can get her inside. No tricks, I swear."

There's a small silence, then we're moving swiftly through the room and I'm laid gently down on some soft cushions.

"What's he doing?" Romanoff asks quietly.

"I uh, I don't know. Cap, do we arrest him?"

"He will be bound with Asgardian chains, and then I shall take him."

"Calm down Muscles, you'll get your prisoner."

Black turns to white as I start to regain my sight. I squint at my surroundings.

There's a small sigh of relief from the man next to me, before he is thrown away from me to the opposite end of the room.

"Hey," I cough out to the people surrounding me, "Go easy on him."

Tin Man kneels down next to me as the others deal with Loki.

"Hey kid, how you feeling?"

"Bit like a cooked egg."

"Like a what?"

"You know. Fried?"

He rolls his eyes and scoffs, "That was terrible. Glad to see you're still with us."

"Did we do it? Is it over?"

"It's over," Thor walks over to my side, dragging a now-bound Loki.

It hurts a little to see him like that. He's saved my life multiple times and now he's chained up like a prisoner.

I suppose he is one.

I beckon for him to lean down.

"Not you," I say as Thor approaches me.

He looks in confusion at his brother, but allows him to near me.

Stark moves away, and Loki kneels in his place, putting his ear a little away from my mouth.

I whisper to him, "I will find you."

He turns his face to look at me, and there's a sparkle in his eye as he nods once, then he's pulled away by Thor.

"Come along. Time to go."
