(SHIELD, Y/n's POV)
"Do you realise what an unbelievably stupid thing that was to do?" Steve says as he drags me down the corridor by my arm.
"Let go of me asshole. I nearly had him."
"No. You didn't. Hate to break it to you y/n, but you forgot to take out the microphones."
I stop and yank my arm from his grip, "What did you say?"
"I said, you forgot to wipe out the microphones. Meaning that, even though we couldn't see you, we still heard every word the two of you were saying."
"Loki most likely knew that," Thor says as he storms over to us. "He only said what he wanted us to hear. Which likely means his plan is moving faster than we thought, and he believes there's nothing we can do to stop it. As for you," he points a finger in my face. "You can read minds?"
I slap his finger away, accidentally electrocuting him a little but it seems to have no affect on him. "Why is that the part that you pay attention to? I was right. No-one gives a shit that I was locked up at Hydra. That I was experimented on against my will. Everyone just cares about what I can do. How I can be used again."
"That's not true."
"Seems like it."
Fury walks past us, followed by Romanoff, Banner and Stark, "All of you. In here, now."
He leads us into the lab, and gestures to us all to take a seat, but most of us remain standing.
Stark, of course, sits down and puts his feet up on the desk.
"We gonna talk about Phase 2?"
"Mr Stark-"
"Yeah I think that's a good idea," Steve says. "I did a bit of snooping, got curious, and I found the prototypes of the weapons you were planning on charging with the Tesseract. Wanna tell us what that's all about?"
"Rogers, we gathered everything related to the Tesseract. That doesn't mean-"
"Come off it Fury," Stark says as he tosses printed diagrams onto the desk. It seems to show some sort of plan for a missile. "You can stop lying now."
"In the 70 years that I was trapped in the ice," Steve says as he sits down, "the world has not changed a bit."
"So why exactly is Shield trying to build weapons of mass destruction?" Banner adjusts his glasses as he speaks.
"Because of him," Fury says sharply and points at Thor.
"Me?"
"Last year, Earth had a visitor from another planet who had a grudge match that sent a small town into the ground. We learned that not only are we not alone, but we are hopelessly and embarrassingly out-gunned."
"My people want nothing but peace with your planet," the Asgardian steps forward.
"But you're not the only people out there, are you? And not the only threat. We now have the Chitauri on our hands as well as everything else. The world's filling up with people who can't be matched, they can't be controlled."
"People like us," I say as I fold my arms and lean against the wall. "That's what this is all about, right? You're finding people like us, rounding us up, so you can keep a close eye on us and make sure we're not a threat to you?"
"It's not all just about power, Miss y/l/n-"
"Of course it is," Stark interrupts him again. "Not just power like hers, or like Bogey Monster's over there," he gestures to Banner, who looks offended. "But skillset. Sure, I have my awesome suit but, underneath it all, I'm merely just a genius. And that, to you, is a threat."
