(Loki's POV)
I watch calmly as the war rages beneath me.
The destruction is beautiful.
"Sir, are you sure you want me to close the portal?"
"No Selvig, I do not want you to close it. I need it left open, but ever so slightly. Then, when the timing is right, you shall open it completely, and the final act will begin. We will unleash the Leviathan."
"Ah, I see sir. Apologies."
I turn away from Selvig in distaste. Is he the man I would've chosen for the job? No, probably not. But he had the skills I needed, and sometimes beggars can't be choosers.
This is all for the greater good, in the long run. The Chitauri will get their planet, and I.....
I will get my throne.
Cars are getting tossed around like paperweights, and buildings are being torn to the ground. It's carnage. It's chaos. I love it.
There's a soft thud as a pair of feet land on the glass floor, not too far from my own.
"Hello brother."
"Loki! Turn off the Tesseract or I'll destroy it."
"You can't. There is no stopping it. There is only war."
"So be it," I hear him mutter right before he leaps towards me.
Sad thing is, I've always been able to anticipate his moves. He's that predictable.
I aim my sceptre and fire a bolt at him, but he deflects it with his hammer and destroys a part of the building on which we stand.
The man of metal flies past us, followed by a small hoard of the Chitauri. I grin at his oncoming downfall, however this gives Thor a perfect opening.
And he takes advantage of it.
I'm met with a right hook to the face that sends me sprawling to the ground.
"Ow," I say, rubbing my chin as I stand.
"Final warning brother. Hand over the Tesseract."
"No can do. Sorry."
My head turns ever so slightly to one side as I hear a noise coming from within the Tower. A movement that unfortunately does not go unmissed.
"What was that?"
"What was what?" I quickly stand forward to block his path.
"That noise, coming from in there," he points his stupid hammer into the room behind me.
"I didn't hear a noise. Don't know what you're talking about."
"Stand aside Loki."
"Well..... What's that? Quick, behind you! It's the Chitauri!"
He raises his hammer with the intention of swinging it towards my face.
"Fine," I sigh and step to one side.
As he walks in, his back is facing me, showing me a perfect opportunity.
My shot is once again deflected by the hammer.
"That was a cheap shot brother."
"Eh, worth a try I reckon."
He walks into the room with me trailing close behind them, and pauses when he sees it's empty.
"See, I told you," I laugh slightly nervously. "No-one here."
Where the hell has she gone?
