(SHIELD, Y/n's POV)

We're all gathered around the monitor, and Agent Coulson is pointing to an image on the screen.

"Here. We've found the Tesseract at this location. We're just waiting for the exact co-ordinates."

"You can forward them to me as soon as you get them," Stark says as he turns to leave the room.

"Where do you think you're going?" Steve puts a hand out to stop him.

"To get the Tesseract. Obviously."

"You see, this is exactly what I was talking about. All you do is try and play the hero."

"At least I'm doing something. You're just standing around looking pretty. Sorry. Trying to look pretty."

"There's no way you're going alone."

"You gonna try and stop me? I'm not afraid to hit an old man."

Looks like Stark's gonna be getting a slap before I am.

"Put on the suit. Let's sort this right here and now."

"Oh yeah? You gonna hit me with your tin can?"

"Put on the suit," he demands again.

"Oh my god," Banner mutters, but when I look at him I see he's still facing the monitor.

I open my mouth to ask him what's wrong but, before I can get a word out, we're all thrown back by an almighty blast.

There's confusion everywhere as agents try to locate the origin of the explosion, but I'm more concerned about finding the others. I spot Fury and Thor by the big table, Stark and Steve fly out of the room, and Banner and Romanoff fall to the floor below.

People are grabbing guns and searching for the attackers, but I instead look for the hole that Black Widow and Bogey Man fell into.

Sorry.

Hulk.

"Number three engine is down," I hear Fury's second in command call through the room, "We've been hit!"

The engineer communicates through the monitor, "We got a fire in Engine 3. The line looks mostly intact, but it's impossible to get out there and make repairs while we're still in the air."

"If we lose one more engine then we won't be," she then addresses us through our earpieces. "Someone's gotta get out there and repair it."

"Come on Tin Man," I speak to him. "This is a job for you."

"Copy that kid."

Fury starts to call to us one by one to make sure we're receiving.

"Y/l/n?"

"Copy."

"Stark?"

"Copy."

"Rogers?"

"Copy that sir."

"Romanoff?"

There's silence over the earpiece.

"Romanoff? Do you copy?"

A few static sounds and groans of pain fill my ear.

"Agent Romanoff. Do. You. Copy?"

"I copy! I copy."

"Banner?"

"He's um, a little indisposed at the moment."

Oh shit.

I keep looking and finally find the hole they fell through, but all I can see is a pile of debris. Neither Natasha or Bruce are to be seen.
