(Okay, 4k reads AND we're 5th in the Godzilla category?! Ya'll be crazy. I honestly never thought I'd get this support ever. Anyways, enjoy!)
HOLLOW EARTH, NEAR KONG'S SANCTUM.
"Ughhhh..." Kiryu groaned, lying down against the wall as some humans began to fix his eye. The dents in his body ached incredibly, but he could do nothing to quell the pain other than wait.
Scylla and Methuselah had been contained, and with them, most of the damage that the Titans could have inflicted had been prevented.
There were still a few stragglers, but they were all in remote locations, far away from any cities or highly populated areas, so he could finally relax for the first time in a while.
Despite knowing that, however, Kiryu remained conflicted and anxious. His remaining eye wandered back over to the humans below him.
He could tell they were afraid as they quickened their pace past him, or held their clipboards up to cover their faces, while the military didn't even acknowledge him although he could see a few soldiers look away as he turned over. The rest simply stared at him with uncomfortable looks
Kiryu almost laughed, they seemed as uncomfortable around him as he was around them.
Honestly, it was ironic that he was so scared of these people, yet they seem so much more terrified. The only humans that haven't shown fear when speaking with him so far have been Dr Lind, Chen and that small girl. The rest seemed scared or some other emotion he couldn't make out.
*Maybe the Military isn't used to not having control. Might be similar to how they felt when the Titans first awoke, it wasn't their world anymore and for a while, they couldn't accept that. And now that I'm not theirs anymore, it's the same reaction...*
Echo's words back in Antarctica rang in Kiryu's mind.
You hate them.
You hate them.
You hate them.
Echo was right, with everything Monarch and Humans had done to him at that point, it would be foolish to not hate them. But, he couldn't help but care.
Maybe it was his programming talking, but seeing humans die just made him feel sick, like when he fought Godzilla back in Tokyo, seeing what could have been thousands of people dying in that blast... It frightened him. It angered him.
*I'm overthinking things. They aren't all bad, Lind and the rest are proof of that. They're just... scared.* He tried to convince himself.
"EYE MOTION SENSOR RECONSTRUCTED, NANOMETAL INTEGRATION COMPLETED."
"Finally... I need to get away from here, just for a while." He sighed as the workers made their way off his face, one of them tumbling as they walked down the stairs. While it was amusing, the situation he was in wouldn't let him laugh.
"Kiryu, I have finished documenting my thoughts. Is there anything urgent we need to accomplish at the moment?"
"Besides my crippling anxiety? Nah." He whispered to himself,
"Sir, did you say something?"
"Nah, Just talking to myself." Kiryu stood up, disconnecting the wires in his body and tiptoeing over the various science centres below.
Making his way outside, he could see the Shatterdomes in the distance. He sighed as the propellers on his back began to turn, allowing him to fly over the forest below him.
"Making a visit to the Titans would probably be best, I don't even think I know most of them that well, and I need some free time."
"Understood, shall I send a message to Monarch?"
