Kiryu: Enter the Monsterverse

Chapter 9: The First Fight

(Please note that this chapter is slightly shorter just to get me back into the groove of making stories. Enjoy!)

9 hours had passed and Kiryu was ecstatic. His training seemed to be paying off as he was now able to dodge and counter Kong's attacks and deliver some powerful blows of his own. Although Kong had told Kiryu on multiple occasions that he was not at all an experienced fighter and was only teaching Kiryu how to survive a fight, Kiryu couldn't help but feel excited.

He was training with an Alpha titan, An ALPHA. How could he not be thrilled at the idea of that? How could he not find that truly fascinating? Not that he'd have much time to enjoy that fact, it wouldn't last long. He could already hear humans behind him, time must have passed faster than he thought.

"Kiryu, the Titan we were talking about is about to reach the city. We need you up there now!" A voice yelled suddenly in Kiryu's ears, freaking him out.

"W-What the? Did they install something while I was asleep? I can hear them perfectly..."

"They repaired the broken Monarch communicator that you broke, Sir. I did not think to deploy dorsal drones as communication is key in times of crisis." Echo said in his ear, Kiryu shook his head and frowned, making a mental note in his head to have a chat with Echo later.

"Whatever, Let's go."

Kiryu signalled to Kong that he had to leave for the surface, Kong nodded before dashing past him towards his home, blowing the wooden tree out of Kiryu's hand.

"Well, He's in a hurry..."

Kiryu leaned forward and began sprinting back to the Monarch outpost at top speed. He'd need to be fast if he wanted to stop any sort of destruction.

"Echo, ask the Monarch employee which Titan it is! I need to know who I'm dealing with here..."

"Affirmative, sending an encoded message now... Message sent."

"Kiryu, we've received your message. The Kaiju you are facing is Titanus Behemoth. When the meteor started affecting Titan around the world, Behemoth like the rest, started to follow its instincts only, it has begun to expand its territory and in the process has begun destroying cities to make way for his forests."

Kiryu screeched to a halt as he hit a dead-end at the bottom of the mountain, his thrusters then flared up as he squatted down and leapt up, using the thrusters to propel him high into the air, until he finally reached the entrance.

"We will try to support you as much as we can with air support, but our forces are preoccupied with other more destructive Titans."

"So I'm essentially on my own for this, good to know..." Kiryu muttered to himself.

Kiryu pushed open the door and walked towards the hollow earth exit, attempting to psych himself up for his first real fight ever since Titanus Amhuluk. Not that he remembered much about that fight or what happened in it. Either way, he still remained unsure.

He looked over to Kong, who gave him a nod of approval. Kiryu smiled and gave Kong a thumbs-up before staring down the hole again, despite Kong's reassurance, it was still scary.

"Echo, run a Diagnostic of all my weaponry."

"Yes sir... All of your energy-based weaponry has been fully charged, your ammunition-based weaponry, however, has not."

"Oh, Well that's not good, how are the missile launchers working?" He said while digging his claw into the wall in an attempt to slow himself down.
