Hey,
I'm going to try another multi-chapter story alongside my one-shots.
This is another test story of sorts. The format will be consistent this time, but it's mostly for fighting scenes and pacing.
That's the theory, A game theory!
See if it's any good.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
He hated it, honestly.
Since he was awoken from that damn sarcophagus and returned to Rhodes Island with no memory of the past, everyone treated him the same.
He was unsure what he had done in the past, which honestly couldn't have been pleasant. But for practically everyone to treat him coldly. They didn't abuse him. It's not like they actively went out of their way to harass him. There was nothing physical. But to be that guy no one wanted to speak to or hang around with.
To ignore him?
To constantly berate him on insignificant matters?
The Doctor, or Y/n, his actual name, was sick of it. He was surprised that anyone even listened to his mission strategies or commands.
Of course, Amiya was still a sweetheart, but even there, she never stayed around him any longer than necessary.
Y/n spent most of his time alone and ate alone in the cafeteria. None would come to sit with him. However, if Kal'tsit made a rare appearance and ate in the cafeteria, everyone would try and sit near her and chat. He may sound jealous, but it wasn't jealousy.
Kal'tsit!... That name seems to be the bane of his existence.
Why does he put up with her? Nothing he does is correct; if he's so bad, why was he even here!?
He has heard things said behind his back many times. Some didn't faze him, while others cut deep.
'We lost good operators in Chernobog to save this guy? seriously!'
'What does he do that Miss Amiya can't? I don't get it.'
'Kal'tsit says he has some use for now.'
Shaking his head rapidly, knowing if he continues thinking about it, he will start to lose his sanity. But he doesn't need to make Kal'tsit any more annoyed at him for simply existing.
Looking around his office, which was dominated by many books, his little library, which he was very proud of. The tiny vibrations of everything could only mean that Rhodes Island was moving.
His mind quickly goes back to dark places. He thought most people at Rhodes Island had bad histories or dark pasts, but they were given chances. Why was he so different?
*Knock, knock*
Caught off guard by the knock on his office door, Y/n sits up and calls out. "Come in"
The door opens slowly, and a single cat ear pokes through, followed by a familiar face.
"Jessica, Come in" He gestured for her to come closer.
Jessica was one of the few Operators that would at least speak to him. That never seemed to make any sense to him. The first time he met Jessica, she started sobbing behind other operators after he woke up from that sarcophagus. That earned him a few glares.
He hoped for a happy conversation with the Timid Operator, but that was quickly ruined by the folders he had only recently sent to Kal'tsit a few hours before for review. Jessica placed the folders on his desk with a look of remorse.
