You stood there with your mouth agape as the old lady who you've never seen say your mothers name
"Though i'm sure you don't remember me since you were very little when you used to come over to play in my backyard with Ganyu" she smiled
"Ah! I see haha..It's nice to see you again then?" you laughed awkwardly, never would you imagine that your future boyfriends grandmothers would've known your mother
After chatting a bit with the old lady known as 'granny ping' you mustered all of your courage to greet Xiao's parents, the brown haired lady smiled brightly while holding your hand "Hello! my names Verr goldet and this is my husband Huai'an , but you can call us whatever you'd like, it's so nice to finally meet my daughter in law-"
"MOOOM!" Xiao tugged on her arm as if he was a small child being teased
"It's a pleasure to meet you too!!" You smiled
Your nerves floated away with every smooth interaction you had with Xiao's parents, they were welcoming and really nice, not to mention amazing cooks! Currently you were playing with Chongyun in the backyard while Ganyu was helping Xiao's parents tidy up the kitchen, two people sat next to eachother in the doorway that leaded to the backyard, Xiao and Shenhe "She really likes you, just so you're aware" she directed towards the short male
"I love her so much... But it seems as if she's been kind of down these days" he mumbled that last part but Shenhe had amazing hearing so she caught what he said with ease
"She hasn't told you has she?" she said shifting her vision to you playing with your brother "11 years ago today Y/n's mother, my sister, passed away due to an illness..."

Shenhe couldn't even imagine how you felt when it had been a week since your mother had been sent to the hospital, you slept on the doorstep like a stray kitten waiting for someone to take it home.
When the news came in you refused to leave your room, everyone was devastated including Shenhe obviously, seeing her younger sister pass away so suddenly took a toll on her, but for whatever reason, as soon as your mother's funeral was over your personality changed, like an unknown switch flipped and the once shy secluded young Y/n turned into the extroverted and happy one you are today. And it influenced everyone around you, especially Shenhe who would be needing to get into the right headspace to be able to take cake of both you and your roughly 1 year old brother.

Xiao stood there wide eyed as he took every bit of information about you that Shenhe spat, never would he had imagined that a cheerful person like you would've gone through so much but that only made his interest towards you grow more and more, there's still so much more to the annoying, flirty, happy, touchy and pretty person he thought you to be, Shenhe catching him glancing at you and smiling for the fifth time already made her anxieties melt away, she'd known of your struggles in the past when it came to partners só Xiao really was a breath of fresh air
"If you hurt her i'll kill you. Got it?"
