Song: “Lost” Micheal Buble (Song in External link)

It took me a full day to fully recover the party. But when I woke up on Sunday morning I was refreshed. I felt good again. I took a shower.  I even straightened my hair, did my makeup, and wore something besides sweats and a t-shirt. I found my white and black gingham sundress.

“Well look how cute you look” My Aunt said as I walked down the stairs.

“Well thank you” I said. “I figured I needed to get out of my funk”

“That party really helped, didn’t it?” My uncle asked as he read his paper.

I nodded, and then I heard a knock at the door.

I looked at my aunt.  She looked at me.

“Well go see who it is”

I walked and saw Kenny’s car in the drive way.

I opened the door and saw Kenny standing there in a pair of cargo shorts and a polo shirt. He looked clean and freshly showered.

“Kenny” I said surprised to see him.

“Yeah I told you about the Sunday dinner thing” He said .

“You weren’t kidding were you?” I asked.

He shook his no. “Now come on, it’s a two hour drive to get to where I have to go”

“Won’t your parents be mad you didn’t ask if I could come?” I said slipping on my black flip flops and grabbing my purse.

“No. Now come on Nico, and grab your passport” He said.

“Ok” I said. “I’m going out” I said to my aunt and uncle as I passed them going up the stairs to grab my passport.

“Ok” I heard my uncle say coming back down the stairs

“Have fun Baby girl” I heard my aunt say.

I closed the front door, and followed Kenny to his car.

“So where are we going to that I will need my passport?”

“I told you, my parent’s house.” He said backing out of the drive way.

“And where exactly is that?” I asked looking at my terrible passport picture.

“Franklin, Michigan” he said heading towards the bridge.

“Franklin?” I said. I had never even heard of it. The only cities I knew of in Michigan were, Detroit, Plymouth, and Saginaw; only because those cities had hockey teams.

“Yeah it’s super small” he said.

I nodded. “Like how small are we talking?” I said putting on my sunglasses.

“Like less than 3,000 citizens small”

WOW! “That is small”

He laughed “Yeah”

The drive to his house was relaxing. I wasn’t pressured to talk about my feelings or the past couple of months.  We talked about music, movies, hockey, how last year he was planning to go to Boston College, then at the last minute he went to Windsor.

“That was probably one of the best decisions I’ve ever made” He said.

“Why did you do it?” I wondered.

“I don’t know really. I got the offer and I guess I knew that deep down that if I wanted to be good in the NHL I was going to need that sort of type experience, and college doesn’t give you that.”
