New Romantics- Taylor Swift

"Bucky? Since when did you work here?" Cara was caught off guard when she saw the brunette standing there, and he seemed to be as well.

"Steve got me a temp position." His gaze wandered to her shirt, and he smiled when he realized what she was wearing. "Nice sweater."

Cara flushed pink before biting her lip nervously. "Sorry."

"Looks better on you. You should keep it." Bucky winked at her, making her face go even redder.

"Have you seen Steve?" Cara took a deep breath and held the straps of her purse, looking for the blonde.

"He left a while ago to go to class. Everything alright?" Bucky leaned forward on his elbows.

"I'm trying to find the nearest grocery store. We need food and you boys can't tell an apple from an orange." Bucky scoffed sarcastically.

"First of all, rude. Second of all, check out Goldie's. It's about a five minute walk down that way, it should be on the right." Bucky pointed his finger facing the street to the left. Cara smiled at him before nodding, taking a deep breath.

"I'll see you later then. Any requests from the store?" Bucky nodded his head no and smiled before she grabbed the door handle.

"I'll see you later, doll."

The sky was still gloomy from the storm the night before, but the breeze felt amazing when the weather before had been so warm. She quickly found Goldie's and filled a basket with their necessities. The boys had each given her $1.50, so she could buy enough food for all three.

Finally done with stocking the cart, Cara still had about 20 cents left over, so she decided to spoil herself and buy a new vanilla scented candle for her room. Her room had come together nicely, and she thought it was very cozy. All furniture was a deep brown but the walls and linens were an ivory color. The red decorations were a nice touch. Red was always her color.

Getting the groceries home was pretty easy. There were only four bags, so she carried them to the apartment. After unloading everything into the kitchen, she decided to check the newspaper about any casting calls. She came to the city to follow her dreams and she felt as if the last week she had done nothing.

The next casting call was for a drama movie, The Red Shoes, which had open auditions in two weeks. Cara decided then she needed a portfolio. That is a task for another day.

"So you aren't in a relationship, right?" Gwen and Cara were gossiping during a particularly slow hour in the shop.

"There's this one boy, Peter. We go to school together but he's so quiet I don't know how to talk to him." Cara smiled at the high schooler. She wished her life was still that simple.

"What about you, Cara?" Gwen smirked at her, wiggling her eyebrows. Cara giggled at her.

"There's this one guy." Gwen snorted, making Cara look up.

"You sound like me. Trust me, make a move. You're a grown woman. Does he seem interested in you?" Cara hesitated, thinking.

"The other night, I was upset, and he spent the night trying to cheer me up. I fell asleep on his arm. He even tried to make me tea and toast." Cara bit her lip at the memory. Gwen gasped at her.

"He so likes you!" Gwen doodled on a napkin.

"I don't know. What if I'm just a friend to him?"

"No guy who sees you as just a friend does those kinds of things." Gwen spoke like it was common knowledge. Cara just sighed thinking about her complicated and practically nonexistent love life.
