Shut Up And Drive - Rihanna

The walls shook as Steve's fists pounded into the punching bag, eventually sending it flying to the other side of the room.
"You ok Steve?" Bucky stood with his hands in his sweatpants pockets. It was the middle of the night and all Bucky heard was Steve's fists repeatedly for the last half hour. The blonde didn't reply to him. Instead, he re-wrapped his hands.
"Steve?" The blonde turned swiftly in his shoes, making Bucky jump slightly. He was barely a foot away. Steve was fuming, his face hot and mis mind fuzzy.
"Do you even know the consequences of what the hell your doing?" Bucky was bewildered. Steve never let anything remotely bad come out of his mouth.
"What?"
"Your playing with fire Buck. Say you succeed, she comes back and you have nightmares every night, and you end up with her blood on your hands?" Steve pushed his finger into Bucky's chest. Bucky gripped Steve's hand with his metal arm. His breath picked up.
"You know damn well if Darla was alive you would do this too." Bucky spoke with his jaw clenched.
"Don't bring Darla into this. Cara is my family. If that means keeping you away from her, then so be it. I will love Dar forever, but I healed." Steve pointed to his chest. "You need to heal Bucky. If she comes back everything is going to turn into chaos and you know it. She's at peace."
"No the fuck she isn't. You know it. She is asleep somewhere in the world with the moments counting down to when someone is going to find her and wake her up. Rather do it now when the people she loved are still alive." Bucky sighed shakily before looking at Steve with nothing but determination in his eye.
"Fine. This is your decision. Don't expect me to help you."
"Didn't plan on it." Steve brushed by him, storming off to his room. Bucky looked down for a hot minute before disappearing to his room.
He laid awake for hours before pulling out earbuds and the blue ipod Tony taught him how to use. Cell phones were too much to understand. Scrolling down to Carrie Barnes, Bucky clicked her name before clicking play, hearing her melodic voice flood his eardrums. He looped the song. Then again. He felt hot tears run down his cheeks, a lump in his throat as his head pounded. Bucky thought about all the promises he made to Cara that he could never follow through with. He knew there had to be some kind of link to where she was. He just had to unlock the memory.
Bucky woke up late in the morning. Walking to the kitchen, he saw everyone sitting and laughing together. The laughter faltered when he walked in, wearing a messy man bun and black sweat pants and a sweatshirt. He had thick socks making his walking even more quiet.
"Hey Buck, you want to join us for breakfast?" Natasha looked up expectantly.
"Please just call me Bucky." Bucky grumbled before making a cup of coffee and disappearing to his room of darkness.
"At least he said words today." Tony shoved a croissant in his mouth.
"Why is he weird about his name?" Natasha looked at Steve, who sucked in a long breath.
"That's what Cara called him."
August 1943
"Buck?" Cara peeked her head into the bedroom to see him looking at himself in the mirror with his new uniform. "Hello Sergeant." Cara went up and kissed him softly.
"Hi gorgeous." Bucky winked slightly. "How does it look?" Cara eyed him up and down.
"Too good." Cara winked back before pushing him with her hands towards the bed. Bucky raised an eyebrow and smirked.
