Bucky was silent walking through the compound hallway. No one could hear him coming when he walked through the entryway to the kitchen. Everyone except Thor sat together, eating breakfast and talking rather loudly. The only person who seemed to notice Bucky's presence was Steve, who looked up to smile at him.
"Hey Buck, want to join us at breakfast?" They awaited an answer, but Bucky only grumbled something inaudible before turning on the coffee machine and running his hand through his hair.
"I told you he wouldn't." It didn't matter how quietly Tony whispered, Bucky still would have heard him a mile away. Too tired to say anything, he ignored Tony and focused on trying to figure out what to press on the fancy coffee machine. The damned thing took forever to make a pot.
The sun shone brightly through the walls of windows on the tower. It was early morning. Cars bustled through the streets as people rushed to get to work, and the clouds moved to show the bright sun. Bucky looked away fast, as it reminded him of how Cara always woke up before dawn to "watch the city wake up." He instead left the room with his coffee to go back to his dark room.
"Just give them a chance!" Steve threatened to take Bucky's noise canceling headphones if he didn't go to movie night with the team. Those headphones are what got him through the day not having to listen to people's bullshit. Bucky glared at Steve before walking to an empty recliner farther from the main area.
"What are we watching?" Bucky closed his eyes and sighed, already tired of everyone around him. Mindless chatter continued around him as he tried to focus on not trying to rip their heads off so they would shut the fuck up. He had not been very sociable since he came out of the ice.
"Holy shit! There's a new documentary about Carrie Barnes. Please Natasha!" Tony practically begged Natasha, who tended to pick more action filled movies. Bucky refused to open his eyes, knowing that Nat would be trying to beat Tony's hand away from the remote.
"Barnes! Tell her you want to watch the new documentary!" Tony's words ripped Bucky away from his head as he looked into Natasha's eyes. She sent him a warning look.
"Just put the damn-" Bucky stopped talking as soon as he looked at the screen. He felt his heart skip a beat and his eyes watered a little before he blinked it away. His hair was in his eyes, but he didn't dare move, for he was scared that if he did, the girl on the screen would disappear. His girl.

"Bucky Barnes! Put me down!" Cara squealed as Bucky held her in the air, running at full speed. The bright lights of the state fair made the dark night colorful and the air smelled of fried foods. Bucky and Cara stuck together and Steve was chatting awkwardly with a girl from his art class he seemed to like. Her name was Darla. She was a cute brunette, very small and had big glasses. She had large green eyes and her hair was long and curly, reaching her waist. They were the sweetest pair.
"I bet five bucks he gets all silent and the whole night is awkward." Bucky whispered in her ear as they watched the two like proud parents.
"I bet 10." Bucky snorted before wrapping an arm around her waist and pulling her towards the ticket booth.
"You used to never indulge in my theories. Have I been a bad influence on you?" Bucky gasped dramatically, making her roll her eyes and smile.
"Who doesn't need a little fun in their life?" Bucky and Cara stopped at the ticket booth to find a very large man with bushy eyebrows handing out tickets.
