I Want You Around - Snoh Aalegra

The feeling of sandpaper dragging of Cara's cheek brought her back from the dead. Slowly looking around, she squinted her eyes instantly. The room was bright, colliding with her blazing hangover. Looking to her left, she saw a fat white cat an inch away from her face.

"Fuck!" Cara squealed, jumping and falling off of the teal velvet couch, taking Darla with her, who was tangled at her feet. The cat screeched and ran away.

"Where are we?" Darla pushed her frizzy hair away from her face, revealing a black eye and bright red lipstick. The both just stared at each other.

"What is wrong with your face?" Both spoke at the same time. Cara's eyes widened, and she tried to pick herself up off the floor and find a bathroom, but she was instantly hit with a dizzy spell. She stumbled and grabbed the arm of the couch for support.

"Oh my god, Cara are you ok?" Darla tilted her head from her spot on the ground. She was laying like a starfish, her face smushed into the pink carpet. Cara just blinked before spilling her guts into a plant pot next to the couch. Before Darla could say anything, she stumbled off to find a bathroom. The first two doors were locked, but she finally found herself in a baby pink tile bathroom with plants everywhere.

Cara gasped at the image in the mirror. Her blue dress had a huge rip in the skirt, along with what she hoped was a leaf sticking up from her chest tulle. Bright red lipstick was drawn in the shape of a heart on her cheek, and she had scratches all over her arms and a few on her other cheek. Pulling the leaf out of her bra, Cara splashed her face with cold water, making her wince immediately.

A knock at the door made her jump, but she opened it to find Winter standing in front of her with hickeys all over her neck and chest. She had a huge smile on her face.

"Hey party girl!" Winter put her arm around Cara's neck, hugging her. The tall girl led her to the living room to find Darla with a pair of large sunglasses and different clothes on. "Last night was halarious!"

"What happened last night? All I remember is meeting you then I blank." Winter giggled smugly.

"What didn't happen? After a couple of hours, you both were bouncing off the walls and kept turning down the singles. When Trisha started flirting with Jane, you were pissed and was all "That's my girl!" and Trisha got all mad and threw a punch at Jane, starting a fight. Trisha insisted you take it outside where you stumbled on your own feet and got sent flying into the bushes. I think the lipstick is from when Georgia tried to give you a makeover and hide the damage. I'm not sure what else happened after that." Winter talked animatedly as Darla sipped an orange juice sitting criss cross on the carpet.

"I feel bad lying to you, but our names aren't Mary and Jane. I'm Cara and that's Darla." Cara referred to the brunette on the floor.

"Figured. Do you need a change before you leave?" Winter looked at Cara's torn dress.

"Please, that would be amazing." Winter jumped up and grabbed Cara's arm, dragging her to a dark red room at the top of the stairs. The dark haired girl dug through her drawers before pulling out a simple black short sleeve button up and loose jean shorts.

"These were my old roommates, I think they should fit you." They were definitely out of Cara's comfort zone, but it was better than the skimpy tank top that Winter was wearing. Cara turned to her left to find a blonde woman in the bed sleeping. "That's Georgia, my girlfriend." Cara just nodded and walked into the bathroom to change and wash her face.

After putting on the new clothes, she walked into the living room and sat next to Darla. Winter followed her out.

"Seriously, you guys are a lot of fun. We have parties a lot so come by sometime!"

"We definitely will. Just letting you know we don't do this very often." Cara just chuckled under her breath.

"Good to know." Winter led them to front door. "You guys know where to go?"

"We'll figure it out. Thank you for the outfit change." Cara smiled at her and Darla nodded at her, sipping an apple juice box. The cool spring air cooled them off, giving a much needed breeze. Slowly walking down, they both made their way back to the apartment, which was around a fifteen minute walk. They definitely got some judgemental stares, but Cara did not have it in herself to care, more focused on making sure Darla didn't bump into her. The girl could not walk in a straight line for the life of her.

When they made it to the front door, two letters sat on the doormat. Cara quickly picked them up and unlocked the door, leading Darla to the couch and immediately wrapping herself in her quilt. One letter was from Steve to Darla and the other was from Bucky to Cara.

Dear Cara,

I miss being home with you. Things here are going fine, just different than what I'm used to. I'm ready to be back with you and Steve. Darla too, but don't tell her otherwise she will start making me too many brownies. How are things going back home? Is Jolly being mean still? I also sent a new casting call in the mail. Better luck this time, I know it sweetheart. Being here is so boring when were not in active fighting please give me some juicy details about something remotely interesting. Did that girl at the coffee shop ever tell her husband about her boyfriend? I miss our little gossip sessions. Pretty please Doll :)

Also don't show these to anyone!! I have a very swag reputation to uphold, they can't know I'm totally whipped. Only for you. I love you.

-Love, Bucky

When Cara looked in the envelope, she found a pressed lily in the bottom, making her smile wide. Every time Bucky sends her a letter, there's always a dried wildflower. He tries to get lilies most of the time. Cara started keeping a scrapbook to store them and different knick knacks he sends her. A casting call sheet was folded neatly in the envelope. When she looked over, she saw Darla all goofy looking, biting her nail and smiling. Cara just scoffed and smiled.

"Why are you all flustered?" Darla snapped out of it and smiled even wider.

"Nothin." Darla trailed her words on and looked at the fireplace.

"You are such a bad liar!" Cara jumped and tackled Darla, making her squeal. She got the letter from her immediately. On a seperate piece of paper, there were three different sketched of Darla. Cara went to turn it around, making Darla's eyes widen.

"Don't turn it-" Cara immediately screamed and dropped the letter, closing her eyes. Steve had drawn a full blown picture of Darla completely naked, laying on their bed. Cara rolled off the couch and onto the carpet, rolling into her quilt.

"Burn my eyes please." Darla just giggled.

"Please, it's a sweet picture. You know darn well that if Bucky could draw, you would be all twirly if you got one." Darla stuck her tongue out at the blonde. Cara just hummed, not saying anything.

"Whatever. I'm gonna work on my letter for Buck." Cara dragged her quilt to her room, closing the door behind her. The sun had started to set, illuminating her room with an orange hue. Her room had accumulated different knick knacks and decorations, most from Bucky. their picture from the fair sat on her vanity. Bucky had cut off the one of her kissing his cheek, him just grinning like a nerd. He said he was going to put in his pocketwatch, since she was his good luck charm. Cara just rolled her eyes at his corniness.

Dear Buckaroo,

I miss you so much. Just sleeping next to you makes my nights better, your like my personal furnace. Things here have been better, Captain Stacy has stopped coming into the shop to order Gwen's favorite drink before church. He claimed it helped him feel more connected to her. Jolly has been fine, as grumpy and snippy as ever. I saw the casting call, and I they are having open auditions for some movie next week! And apparently the girl from the shop, Connie, told her husband and he didn't even say anything, just packed his bags and left. Her boyfriend broke up with her too, claiming that he didn't want a serious relationship. The kid is like 20 and Connie is 35. It's creepy. I don't have much new things to talk about. The other night, Darla and I went to a house party with lesbians and I got into a housefight. Pretty crazy!! You have my pinky promise that no one will see any of these letters or flowers. They are very safely stored. Please stay safe. I love you to the moon and Saturn Buck.

-Love, Cara 💕
