Chapter 5

It's been a month later and Y/n has been working day and night on Amani's case but she hasn't gotten any new leads except from false ones.

"Babe your phone's ringing." Ariana gave Y/n her phone.

"Hello?" Y/n spoke after putting her phone on speaker, she had her nose deep inside Amani's files.

"We got the results back. The girl's body wasn't Amani's." Someone from the ERT team told Y/n.

"Thank you. I'll make sure to tell the family." Y/n said before hanging up.

"There's still a chance Amani's alive Ariana." Y/n said and got up.

"You coming with me to Amani's family?" Y/n asked Ariana.

"Sure." Ariana said.

She never said no because those times were the only times Ariana could spend some time with Y/n.

"Hello. I'm here to tell you that the found body from over a month ago wasn't Amani's." Y/n told the family.

"So there's a possibility that my little girl is still alive?" Fatima asked.

"Yes." Y/n said.

"Amazing. Thank you." Fatima smiled happily.

"Of course." Y/n waved before jogging back to her car.

"Can we stop at starbucks?" Ariana asked.

"No, I have to work more." Y/n said and Ariana sighed.

They drove back home and Y/n immediately went back to Amani's case. Ariana looked at a concentrated Y/n.

Her heart broke at the sight. Y/n had eyebags under her eyes and she looked really tired. She barely even slept anymore. Ariana was worried sick but she knew she couldn't do anything. Y/n was gone. She would only be back if Amani came back.

Ariana wanted to distract herself so she went to work on her album 'Dangerous Woman' that she was of course writing for Y/n.

It's been a few weeks later and Y/n and Ariana haven't spoken a word to each other. Well Ariana tried but it was as if she was speaking to a wall instead. She was tired of crying herself to sleep every night Y/n was working or in another room. She couldn't take it anymore. Even her friends and family noticed.

But Ariana knew she could only ask one person for advice, and that was Y/n's mother. So she facetimed Y/n's mother who picked up immediately.

"Oh Ari I'm so happy you called- oh no, what's wrong?" She asked and Ariana started to cry immediately.

"Shh calm down my daughter." Y/n's mom, Aaliyah, said.

"What's wrong?" She asked once Ariana calmed down.

"I can't do this anymore ma." Ariana bit her lip to hold her tears back.

"It's the case huh?" Aaliyah asked and Ariana nodded her head.

"I miss her ma. I miss her so much but it's like she's not there anymore. We still sleep in the same bed but she never looks at me anymore. She doesn't even take me with her anymore. It's like she forgot about me completely. I tried to talk to her but she hasn't said a word to me in two weeks. And before that we barely spoke too. I can't do this anymore. It hurts too much." Ariana told Aaliyah.

"I know Ari. She's my daughter but you're basically my daughter too. You have to leave her." Aaliyah said and Ariana broke down in tears again.

"She- she promised-" Ariana couldn't finish her sentence because she started to cry again.

"Calm down Ari. It's okay. What did she promise?" Aaliyah asked.

"She promised we'll get ma- married after thi- this case." Ariana managed to say before breaking down again which broke Aaliyah's heart.
