You finally mustered the courage to look into his eyes. A smirk crossed his face as he laughed. "I'm just kidding! I know he's already been here with you!" he grinned madly.
"I-I didn't see you in the pub today." you said, cautiously moving backwards.
"I'm everywhere the shadows are, querido." he purred, clacking his nails against the wooden table. He rested his palm against his face. "Now about that wine." he huffed. You nodded as you went to the back. You quickly grabbed the bottle and went back towards the table. You grabbed a glass from the cupboard and poured it for him.
"I'm gonna ask you to pay now." you warned, setting the cup down. He looked up at you.
"Francamente, I don't have any money." he said, his eyes lazily looking at their surroundings, obviously having no care that he was broke.
His hand grasped the cup. You felt an angry blush rise up your face. You gathered yourself as you leaned against the counter. Your hand wormed its way to his massive paw. His eyes shot back to you.
"Then...I'm afraid I can't let you have this." you cooed, taking his hand off of the cup. A smirk crossed his face. "I don't know who you are, but you've got alot of nervio coming here without money, señor Lobo." You finished, your hand shaking.
A chuckle escaped his lips. His nose was just inches from yours as his eyes stared into you.
"Death. The name is Death, señorita." he answered.
What an odd name. "Mmm, and I'm sure you already know mine, correct?" you tilted your head. He chuckled, rising from his seat. "How lucky I am, she's even smart." he said sarcastically. You quickly downed his wine as he turned around to walk out of the tavern.
"You still have to pay the other drink, though!" you shouted back. He cocked his head to the side to stare at you.
"I'll make sure to pay you back." he cooed.
A eerie whistle flowed out of his mouth. One second he was there, the next, gone.
You sighed as you quickly closed up the tavern. Something inside you was interested in this "Death" character even though half of you feared him. You grabbed your bags, and left a small note for the bartender. If Death was after Puss, you couldn't be the one to lure him to his certain demise. You took one last look at the place you called home and marched away from Del Mar.
