Your knees hit the star's glassy surface, as you quickly recovered. You bolted towards Puss as he started reciting the words to the wish. Your hand grasped the map as you tried to tug it out of his hands. "Puss give me the map!" you hissed. He shook his head frantically. "I can't!" he said. You glared at him; tears started to sweep your face. "You damn well can! Just give me the fucking map!" you yelled. Puss was shocked as he looked at you. You looked down at the mosaic floor. Your knees buckled as you crouched onto the floor.

Tears dripped from your chin and onto the star, making a plip sound every time they fell. "I just...want to...see my parents again." you sobbed. Puss closed his eyes before turning to you. "I'm sorry, Y/N....But I need this wish." he said, turning back to the map.

"Star light, star bright, first star I see tonight. I wish..."

"I can't believe I fell for it again." Kitty's voice spat, carrying an anger with it. You moved your head to see Kitty and Perrito. "Kitty, you don't understand." Puss stammered. "Don't understand what? That you've been playing me this whole time." she said, pointing her dagger while walking towards him. "I need this wish!" he urged, looking at the map frantically. "Oh yeah? You wanna know what know what my wish was?" she asked. Puss's eyes bounced from Kitty's to the map.

"Someone, anyone I could trust!" she spat, taking the map from Puss's hands. He frantically tried to snatch it back before Kitty pointed her sword at him, causing him to step back with a yelp.

"In my whole life, I'd never had that." she whimpered, tears forming in her pupils. Puss lowered his paws. "But I thought I finally found someone without a wish." she said, dropping her sword to her side. "I thought it was you." she answered, looking down. Puss's eyebrows creased in sorrow.

"But you're still running." she said, "Still the same old Puss in Boots." her voice growing unamused. "But I'm not! I'm not Puss in Boots!" he yelled. He sighed in defeat. "I'm-- I am on my last life." he answered. Kitty's eyes widened in shock. "I need to get my lives back. Without them I'm not...I am not..." he trailed off. "What? The legend?" she asked, in disgust.

He paused. She chuckled, crossing her arms. "I still can't compete with your one true love." she added. Puss lowered his eyes in shame. "Go on. Get your lives back." she threw the map to the ground. Puss followed it like a dog to a stick.

"Just keep them out of mine." she snarled. Tears still swept across your face when Kitty came to your side. Her paws wiped the tears from your cheeks as she let out a 'shh'. Perrito whimpered, looking from you and Kitty to Puss. "Kitty, Death is after me!" he screamed, his voice cracking. Kitty turned to Puss. "What?" she said.

"I've been called a lot of things." the familiar nasally voice answered. You turned to see Horner and his bodyguard jump onto the star. "But never 'Death'. I like it! That's my wish!" he said, holding a magical staff towards you and your friends.

"Oi!" a voice roared. You turned your head to the right to see Mama Bear. "That's Goldi's wish." she snarled. One by one, Goldi and the other bears jumped onto the star, leaving you and your friends surrounded. You stood up and drew out your daggers. Your eyes went from Goldi's to Baby's. Their was a long pause before Goldi lunged at you and your friends. Everyone charged at your group.

Bodies were flung everywhere as you dodged an attack from Mama Bear. The map flew out of Puss's hand as everyone followed it. You had to get that wish. "I got it! I got it!" Baby Bear yelled, flinging himself at the map. He missed. "Don't got it!" he added. You jumped off his back and reached for the map. You also missed. "Damn it!" you screamed as your body met the floor.

Jack started shooting everyone with magic. "That's my wish!" he yelled. The star started to lift from the ground. Rumbling your surroundings. Kitty had grabbed the map as Jack fired his staff crazily. One hit you and his minion. Your body shook painfully, as electricity shook through your body.

Your body started to slide off the star. You stuck your dagger into the crystal surface of the star. Puss was beside you, a few feet from yourself. You took out you second dagger and started crawling. "Haha, it's bear season!" Jack laughed, pointing his magic staff at Mama Bear (who happened to be holding the wish).

Baby Bear pushed Jack onto the floor, knocking him down. "Oi! I'm gonna bust you up, plum-thumb, and then I'm gonna wear your clothes." he said. You would've had a good hearty chuckle, if you weren't fighting for your life. "That was weird." Jack added, before grabbing his staff back and shooting Baby. You finally got your bearings and stood up. Mama Bear had dropped the map in a hurry to help their son, which gave you time to get the wish.

Goldi crouched down to the map. Her eyes reflected the words, before she ran to the bears. You froze next to the map. She gave up the wish for the bears? The back of a hand met your face. The sting hurt much worse than the impact to the floor. Jack's shoes walked in front of you as you reached for the map. "No!" Puss yelled, regaining his balance. Jack laughed like a baby, before his face was met by Kitty's shoe, knocking the map out of his hand.

Kitty helped you up before turning to Jack. "Hey, Softpaws. How do you like these apples?" he called, pulling the pin out of a poison apple grenade. She dodged everyone of them before catching one, but it didn't blow up. "Soft paws!" she purred. Jack groaned as she threw it, knocking him back to his bag. "Okay, okay, you know, maybe it's time to bury the hatchet!" he said, lifting a hatchet out of his granny bag. Kitty's boot met his face once again, knocking him into his bag.

He yelled something unintelligible as his voice was muted by the closing of the bag. You turned to see Perrito handing the map to Puss. You fell to the ground. It was too late. You'd never see your parents again. Tears flooded your vision as you screamed in your mouth, blood drawing from your tongue as you bit it harshly. "You know, I've only had one life. But sharing it with you, Y/N, and Kitty, has made it pretty special." Perrito's voice echoed through your mind. You stopped.

He was right, you never would have had this adventure if you hadn't found that little dog...or if he hadn't found you. Tears poured from your eyes, but they weren't tears of sadness. They were tears of joy. They had given you the family you needed but never had. They had given you the love you never had.

That's when you paused. A dreaded whistle flew through the air as everyone stopped. "What is that?" Papa Bear asked. You turned your head to the aurora drawing off the star. A black figure walked through the glistening sparkles. His two sickles were outstretched to his sides. "Who's that?" Perrito asked. Puss's eyes widened. "He's here for me." Puss answered. His sickles screeched against the ground. Red flames traveled across the ground, hitting Perrito and trapping you and Puss in the flaming oval. Death looked to you as his sickle came close to your face. You closed your eyes, waiting for the strike.

Cool metal met the bottom of your chin, angling it to his face. You opened your eyes, meeting his beautiful blood-colored ones. "They made you cry." he said, quietly. His eyes glowed fiercely, bearing rage. He closed his eyes, then opened them again. That rage was hidden. He pulled off his hood.

"I've enjoyed the chase, gato. But I think we've reached the end now. You and I." he said.
