"I just lost a good date tonight." Ely said.
"I'm so sorry about that." Josh apologized sincerely.
Ely walks inside, she took off her shoes and throws her purse on the couch.
"What are you doing? I thought we are going to dinner?" Josh followed her.
"I'm not hungry."
"Well, I am, come on sweetheart, you've said you just lost a good date tonight, you can have a better date if you wanted to."
"Why are you so arrogant?"
"I am not, I'm just saying..."
"Why don't you get out? I am not going to dinner with you."
"Ely please, I'm sorry alright, can we just..." Josh stomach creates a sound. He look at Ely humiliated "I'm sorry about that I haven't eaten since yesterday."
"Since yesterday?" Ely is amused.
"I'm so excited about our dinner tonight and I can't eat."
Ely hide her smile, she looked down.
"Can we go now, please?" Josh is begging.
"Okay" Ely said.
Josh didn't speak as he drove his car to the restaurant. Ely didn't speak either. When Josh parked his car Ely was surprised. Josh parked at Alexandra's Kitchen.
When they entered, the receptionist gave them a smile then guide them to their table, Ely noticed the meaningful look the receptionist gave to her before she left them. Ely can't help but feel uncomfortable.
Josh ordered their food, neither one of them starts a conversation until the waiter serves their food. Josh started to eat, and then out of nowhere he asked Ely.
"Have you heard of the story?"
"What story?" Ely answered back.
"And here she goes again, answering my question with question." Josh smirks.
"Are you mocking at me?" Ely squint her eyes a little.
"No I am not." Josh wipes his mouth with table napkin and then looks at Ely. "You're not touching your dinner."
"I don't feel like eating." Ely sulks.
"Look. I'm sorry I ruined your dinner with your knight in shining armor but it's already ruined, you are here with me in the most romantic restaurant here in California, so why don't we enjoy the evening."
Ely looks at Josh, He's in a merry mood tonight. He greeted everyone with a smile when they entered the restaurant. He's kind and polite with the waiters that served them, for three months Josh is pretty annoying on the set, but tonight he's different. Ely saw the Josh she's been looking for, the kind of Josh she met in Jersey. The kind of Josh she fell in love with.
"Is there something wrong in my face?" Josh asked when he noticed Ely is staring at him.
"No, nothing!" Ely took her glass and drink some water.
"You know you won't be full if you will just drink your water, come on...eat." Josh said.
"Why did you bring me here?" Ely asked.
"Why shouldn't I bring you here?" Josh answered.
"You're not taking your revenge, right?"
"What revenge?"
"Answering questions with question."
"No" Josh laughs softly.
Ely can't help but feel the warmth on that laugh, it's been a long time since she heard his honest laugh, and it's been three months since she waited for Josh to laugh like that, the kind of laugh that Josh gave only to her.
And then Josh looks at her, the kind of look that Josh never gave to anyone. Ely is so certain of that look. She saw him in love in a movie, angry, devastated, she saw Josh on cam and off cam. Ely never saw that kind of stare form Josh, he never look at anyone the way he look at her. She would like to think that she's the only person who makes Josh look at a woman like that.
Ely started to eat her dinner, she tried to ignore Josh stare.
"It's good right?" Josh is referring the food.
"Yeah, it's great" Ely smiled.
"God! I missed that smile." Josh said almost in a whisper.
"What smile?"
"Your Jersey smile."
