Axel

I came crashing back into the house, I had no idea where she was, I had no I sea who she was with. I had no idea about what to do.

"Axel?"

Oh hell no! Please, just no!

"Axel! I said is that you? I deserve an answer, you know!" She said, her forehead creased in anger.

"Yes." I sighed, "Yes, it's me, mum."

"That's better. Now, come help me, we have guests coming over tonight."

"I can't, I promise-" I began, as I took my coat off.

"I am so sick and tired of your behaviour Axel. Can't you be helpful for once? I can't stand the strain any longer!" My mum cried out as she came out to the hallway.

She looked tired, her hair messy, her dress crumpled and her hands covered in flour. I wanted to help her, I really did but there was Lyric.

"Mum, you don't understand-" I said but she cut me off again.

"No, Axel. It's you and that father of yours that never understand." She said, forcefully. "You both don't see what I'm putting up with for you. Your father thinks he is the one managing all the work and comes home saying 'what did you do today? Nothing! All you did was go out with your friends while I worked my ass of at the office!' And you always coming home and avoiding me and not listening to me and making it harder for me at home. Your father thinks he works but all he does is order people around and fill out paper work. I do labourous work the whole damn day. From the morning until we go to bed. I wake up in the morning and make you breakfast and then I eat breakfast and then I make you both lunch and then I clean and by the time I'm done picking up after you hooligans it's time for me to make lunch! I can keep on going if you're not convinced, Axel but my death will be on the two of you if you don't step up your game!"

I slowly closed my mouth and opened it again only to close it again.

"I'm sorry." Was all I could manage to say.

"As you should be. Now come help me." She stated and my heart broke. I didn't want to be a burden to my mother when I was supposed to be a helping hand. I didn't want to make it worse for her when I was supposed to make it easier for her.

"Mum. I can't, please, I promise-" I began but again she cut me off but not with her words but with the tear that rolled down her left cheek.

"Go." She said and I shook my head. I didn't want to leave her by herself, I couldn't and I wouldn't but I had to.

"I said go, Axel. Go before I do something I don't want to do." She whispered painfully.

"Mum, there's something else you're not telling me. What is it?" I questioned as I stepped closer to her. This wasn't just the frustration she had over my father and I, something else was bothering her and I was scared because my mum was a cutter. She used to be anyway but that was before she met my dad and I was afraid it might happen again if there was no one to watch her.

"It's nothing Axel. Go." She said with a little more effort, her voice cracking at the last word.

Why was this all happening at once?! Why was it all so sudden? What was happening to my mum?

"Mother!" I yelled. So loudly it made her shake, so loudly it made her loose her balance, so loudly it made her fall.

Straight onto her head.
