My first day of school was definitely not as horrible as I expected it to be. So far everything was great. Here I was, in the cafeteria with Allison and two other girls. They were all so nice to me, and I couldn't believe the fact that I was actually looking forward to coming back here tomorrow.
"So Mavis, how do you like Silver Oaks? Lucy asked me. She was in my Biology class. She had bright green eyes which complimented her long, blonde hair perfectly.
"I never thought I'd say this but I love it here." I smiled.
"That's good! Oh listen, we're having a sleepover at my house this Saturday. You have to come! Not taking no for an answer." Taylor said with her mouth full of her sandwich. She was a total tomboy and she couldn't care less about what people thought of her. I wish I was confident just like her.
"Gross Taylor! Eat with your mouth closed!" Allison scrunched up her nose in disgust.
Taylor rolled her eyes and turned to me expecting an answer.
"I'll be there."
"Great! I'll text you my address later." She beamed.
"Hello ladies." I heard a boy's voice and turned around.
I almost choked on my cookie as I stared at the tall figure. Standing in front of me was the probably the most gorgeous guy you could ever lay your eyes on. He had messy light brown hair, flawless skin and captivating eyes that reminded me of warm caramel.
Stop drooling over him, Mavis. What is wrong with you?
"Hi Troye." Allison said. "You skipped English again."
"I'm aware." He said, rolling his eyes at her. He looked at me and smirked.
"Who's this beautiful girl?"
Oh my God.
I felt my cheeks turn red as I looked away.
"This is Mavis Anderson, the new girl Mrs. Noah told us about." Lucy said. "Mavis, this is Allison's cousin, Troye Adams."
"It's nice to meet you Mavis." He smiled.
Oh God. That smile. I think I'm gonna melt.
Seriously Mavis?"It's nice to meet you too." I said, trying hard to hide the nervousness in my voice.
What in the world is wrong with you..
We got up to leave as the bell rang. None of them shared Math class with me so I told them I'd see them later.
***"May I come in?" I asked as I stood outside the classroom.
The teacher turned towards me and smiled."You must be Mavis Anderson." He said, gesturing me to come inside.
Wow, did everyone already know me?
I nodded.
"I'm Mr. Thomas, your Math teacher." He said. "You can sit next to Carla."
He pointed to a girl with tan skin and dark brown hair that fell on her shoulders in ringlets. She smiled at me and gave me a little wave as I took my seat next to her."Hi, I'm Carla." She said, her brown eyes shining.
"I'm Mavis." I smiled.
"Carla, help her with her work since she's new. I doubt you'll have any difficulty though, Mavis. I've seen your academic reports and I must say you have an excellent record." Mr. Thomas said.
I felt good hearing that. "Thank you."
I felt someone tap my shoulder. I turned around and forgot how to breathe for a moment.
"Hello Mavis." Troye smiled at me.
That smile is giving me a heart attack."Hey." I said, returning his smile.
"Okay class, turn to page 68." Mr. Thomas interrupted us.
We all spent the rest of the class doing problems.
***"Mavis!" I heard someone shout my name as I was walking back home. A car stopped beside me.
"Hi." Troye got out out and smiled.
Why does this guy smile so much? It's killing me.
"Hey."
"Hop in. I'll drive you home." He said and opened the passenger door.
"Oh no, it's okay. My house isn't that far." I said, hoping my cheeks wouldn't turn red again.
You want to miss out on a ride home with this guy? Get in the car idiot.
"Oh c'mon Mavis." He held my arm and pulled me towards the car.
I'm going to pass out. Somebody please call 911.
I felt my cheeks getting red with embarrassment as he hopped in next to me.
You're an absolute weirdo Mavis. It's just a guy. You talk to guys all the time, right?
He drove as I gave him the directions to my house. It didn't take much time to reach, as it wasn't very far.
Now I wish that I lived farther away from school."Thanks for the ride." I said as I opened the door.
"Wait." He said and handed me his phone. I shot him a confused look.
"You need to put your number in." He said with an amused look on his face.
Did this guy just ask for my number? I'm going to die.
"Oh." I said as I saved my number in his phone and handed it back to him.
He held out his hand."Uhm, you want my phone..?" I asked.
"You're a genius!" He grinned.
I wanted to disappear as I gave him my phone.Go bury yourself alive Mavis.
"Great. I'll text you later." He smirked, as he handed me my phone.
"Thanks again, Troye. Bye." I said, getting out of the car. I walked to my door and turned back to see him still there. He waved at me and drove off.
***"Mom, I'm home!" I shouted.
"Somebody looks happy." She smiled.
I hugged her."How was school?"
"It was wonderful." I gushed.
"Really?" She raised her eyebrows. "Well, that's surprising."
"Unbelievable, right?" I grinned. "California isn't turning out to be so bad."
"So you're okay with all this?" She asked. I nodded.
"I'm glad." She said, kissing my forehead.
