The next morning I was up quite early. Probably because of the fact that I was excited to go to school. Or maybe I wanted extra time to get dressed.
Someone's trying to impress that boy.
I honestly hated the inner me sometimes. Of course I wasn't trying to impress Troye. Why in the world would I do that?
You can't lie to yourself, darling.
Oh shut up you stupid minx. I pushed these thoughts aways and carried on getting dressed.I wore my blue skater skirt and a white off the shoulder top with my white wedges. It was a simple outfit that didn't scream 'It took me two whole hours to put this thing together', which it obviously did.
I let my hair fall neatly over my shoulders. After applying mascara and a hint of gloss, I grabbed my bag and rushed downstairs, into the kitchen."Good mor--" I froze with my eyes open wide.
What is he doing here? Am I hallucinating? I must be hallucinating. Oh my God.
"Good morning honey. Come sit" my mom beamed, snapping me out of my reverie. She was seated at the dining table. And with her sat Troye Adams. Troye. Freaking. Adams. With a huge smile on his face.
Oh that beautiful smile."Why didn't you tell me about this lovely boy?" Mom asked.
I cringed. Lovely boy? Somebody please hide me."Hi Mavis" Troye greeted me as I took a seat. I still hadn't recovered from the state of 'shock'.
"Hi" I said in a wobbly voice.
"Eat up quick and we'll leave for school" He said. "Thank you for the breakfast Mrs. Anderson. The pancakes were delicious."
"It was a pleasure to have you here. Drop in whenever you want" mom said as she cleared up the table. "Mavis, start eating. You don't want to get late."
"Uh, I'm not very hungry. I'll just have this." I grabbed a granola bar. "Bye mom."I rushed out of the house before mom started a lecture on how breakfast was the most important meal of the day. I'd throw up if I dared to eat anything right now.
I got a better look of Troye as we walked towards his car. I couldn't help but notice that he looked absolutely breathtaking. He wore a simple black tee and jeans. His dishevelled hair fell on his forehead. It looked like he didn't put in much effort but still managed to look perfect. Okay, I need to stop.
"Are you okay?" He asked as he opened the passenger door for me.I'm going to melt.
"Y-Yeah" I stuttered.
Stupid.
He chuckled and got in the car.
He is laughing at you, Mavis.
"Do I make you nervous, Mavis?" He winked.I'm one step away from hyperventilating.
"N-No." I blurted. "Of course not."
"So you normally don't talk much?" He asked.
"Um, I'm getting my room painted soon."I did not just say that. Why Mavis, why?
He chuckled. "Well, that's nice. What colour?"
"P-Pink o-or Purple. I-I don't know."What in the world..
A look of amusement crossed his face.
"You're adorable." He said trying to stifle a laugh.Oh. My. God.
I felt the blush creep up my neck. This boy is going to be the death of me.
***I could sense every pair of eyes on me as I walked through the doors with Troye. It felt beyond uncomfortable. Like I had forgotten to wear clothes. The girls gave me intimidating stares. I guess Troye is Mr. Popular then. Oh well.
"You need to walk faster, you know?" Troye put his arm over my shoulder and steered me towards the classes. My body stiffened.Oh my God. He is touching me.
"I'll see you soon Mavis" He said. "Have fun."
"B-Bye." I could feel my knees wobble. What is wrong with me..
"Oh and Mavis?" He yelled from a distance. "You look great today."
Mission accomplished.
And with that he walked away before I could say anything. Not that I would have been able to get anything out of my mouth.
I couldn't resist the smile tugging at the corners of my lips.
Every person in the hallway looked at me in shock. I got inside the classroom trying to avoid everybody's piercing glares.
***
"Mavis!" I heard a familiar voice as I was heading towards the lockers. I turned around to see Allison, Taylor and Lucy.
"Oh my God. Is it true?" Allison gushed. All of them seemed to have an excited expression on their faces.
"Is what true?" I asked.
"Troye gave you a ride to school?" Lucy asked. She was practically jumping up and down.
"Yep" I said popping the P.
"And that he called you sexy in front of everyone in the hallway?" Allison squealed as she held both my arms and shook me. I laughed.
"No. He just said I looked great." I took out my English books out of my locker and closed it. "It's not a big deal."
"Of course it is. Troye never compliments girls. He's never had a girlfriend. He's finally showing interest in you." Taylor giggled.
I felt a tinge of happiness.
Why Mavis? Do you like Troye?
"We were starting to think he's gay." Allison whispered.
I felt my cheeks turning red. This isn't so comfortable.
"Aw you're blushing" Lucy yelled.
These girls..
"You guys need to calm down. He doesn't even know me." I tried hard not to show any signs of excitement.
"Oh, we'll see." Allison winked.
"Oh come on." I shook my head. "We're getting late for class."
I walked past them. And they followed. "Mavis and Trooooye sitting on a tree. K. I. S. S. I. N. G." They sang.
"Guys!" I exclaimed.
"Sorry." Allison said sheepishly. "You're still blushing." She added.
Taylor and Lucy giggled.
I narrowed my eyes at them.
"Sorry!" They put their hands up in surrender.
I couldn't help but chuckle. These crazy girls.
Things at Silver Oaks were turning out to be very interesting.
***The rest of the day went on without any drama, not that I wasn't enjoying it. Only the thought that Troye could possibly like me was enough for me to feel a zillion butterflies in my stomach.
I was sitting in the library doing my homework. It was almost time to go home. I gathered my books and headed out of the library when I bumped into someone.
"Sorr-" I trailed off.
"Hey. I was looking for you." Troye said in his oh so sexy voice.Stop Mavis.
"T-Troye. You n-need something?" I asked. I wish I wouldn't stutter when I talked to this boy. He's going to think I'm nuts.
He just looked at me and smiled.
"What? Do I have something on my face?" I asked, as my hand automatically went up.
"No." He chuckled. "I just thought I'd give you a ride home."
Again?
I felt the need to jump up in joy.
"You don't ha-" I started, but he pulled me towards the school parking lot before I could finish.
"Let's say I want to." He said as we drove towards my house.
I felt the blush creep up my cheeks hoping he wouldn't notice.
This boy drives me insane.
"Looks like you've got company." He said.
"Huh?"
He pointed towards my house. My mom was talking to a girl with short black hair that reached just above her shoulders. She had perfectly tanned skin and a body to die for. Her eyes shone as she talked to my mother.
"Who is that?" Troye asked.
"I don't know." I answered. "You want to come inside?"What did I just ask him?
He looked at me in surprised.
"Little Mavis didn't stutter." He smirked.
I rolled my eyes. I'm not sure where this sudden burst of confidence is coming from.
"I'd love to but I have guitar classes." He continued. "I'll drop in once I get done with them though."He plays the guitar. Oh my God.
"Okay." I smiled. "Thanks for the ride."
"No problem." He said.
"Mavis." I heard my mother yell. "Come meet our new neighbour!"
"Bye Mavis." Troye said and drove off.
I walked towards mom who was still busy talking to the girl.
She seems nice. It would probably be great having her as a neighbour. Everything had been perfect till now anyway.
