It was a few days after the olo'eyktans death and funeral, everyone had been training extremely hard, all that was left to do now was warn to two other clans within the island, Mä'reyna was convinced this may not be too difficult as they were all fighting for the same cause. If her plan worked, the next time the sky people returned they would be attempting to fight over 800 warriors not to mention the amout of ikran that would fight against them.
The small friend group (reyna, lo'ak, kiri, tsreya, aonung, neteyam and ateyo) sat in a group at meal time, tomorrow reyna would leave to the other clans with a group of warriors, this was perhaps the last time they would hang out as friends before war broke out.
"guys im telling you i could take down one of those ships ALONE" aonung bragged
"oh ofcource you can!" mä'reyna spoke sarcastically, " i forgot you mastered ikran!"
"oh pleasee how hard can it be" he said rolling his eyes
"bro theyre not ilu, to be chosen they attempt to kill you" lo'ak laughed
"ahh my idiot brother thinking because he is future olo'eyktan he can do anything " tsreya laughed sticking her tounge out at the boy.
"oh aonung you are delusional " kiri argued with the boy over something stupid as the rest of the group laughed at them.
"okay monkey girl go back to staring at trees" the boy joked
"ah now aonung may i remind you this is the forest not the reef" reyna laughed
"yeah whos the freak now" kiri spoke up sticking her tongue out at him
"yeah fish boy whos freaky now?" ateyo spoke putting a shoulder on aonungs shoulder
"you are FREAKS" he said pointing at both kiri and lo'ak, reciving a middle finger from lo'ak
"what does this mean?" mä'reyna spoke grabbing his finger
"it is offensive on earth" neyteyam explained
"my dad taught me it" lo'ak spoke smugly
"sky people are weird. how is this finger offensive?" the girl said causing the others to chuckle.
The pair stayed smiling at eachother as kiri finally spoke up again, "okay so we all agree aonungs the biggest freak?" The group continued to laugh.
"can i just remind you how many fingers you have kiri?" he said causing the group to go silent.
"i think ill leave now" kiri said not looking at anyone, neyteyam soon followed her in order to make sure she was okay.
"dick move aonung " lo'ak spoke with annoyance
"sorry ill apologise to her tomorrow" he said looking at the floor ashamed.
"come now reyna it is late, we must leave early" ateyo said offering out a hand and helping the girl to her feet
"oh yes" tsreya spoke, "good luck tomorrow you guys"
"we know you'll do great" aonung smiled, he was still being slightly ignored due to his comment but it was still nice of him to say.
"ill walk you both to your huts" lo'ak said joining the two.
After quickly saying goodbyes they reached ateyos hut
"i will see you tomorrow morning," she said hugging him, "be strong tonight in preparation for tomorrow"
"strong mind i know i know" he laughed letting go of his best friend and walking into the hut. Now it was just lo'ak and mä'reyna.
"come on lo'ak you walk so slow" she said walking ahead of the boy
"bro i just dont wanna have to say bye to you" he said smiling joining her side
"awww how cute son of toruk makto has fallen inlove" she said teasing as she poked the sude on his arm
"whatever" he said rolling his eyes
"are you nervous?" he continued
"hm" she looked down at the ground
"we both know you will do amazing olo'eyktan " he said rubbing her arm attempting to comfort her
It had always been a joke when he called her olo'eyktan, but now it seemed rather bitter sweet. Yes she was the olo'eyktan, but it meant her father dying for her to get to this position.
As the pair walked the girl slowly moved her hand to connect with his.Once their hands had reached eachother lo'ak looked up in shock however tried to play it off cool.
"so whos going tomorrow?" lo'ak said breaking the comfortable silence
"me, ateyo, the highest warrior group, and zeekell." she said she know lo'ak had met a fee of the warriors however they were much older than the two and had families of their own now so they weren't exactly friends
"zeekells going?" lo'ak spoke jealousy pouring from his mouth
"of course" she spoke softly glancing up at him, "he is a warrior why would he not?"
"i just assumed cos of everything between us, you might i dont know distance yourself from him?" he spoke his eye brows furrowing.
"lo'ak he is one of my dearest friends and a great warrior for our tribe." she said
"okay but-"
"lo'ak he was chosen by my father not by me" she said stopping making him look at her.
"okay" he said looking down in embarrassment " okay im sorry im sorry" he soon pulled the girl into a hug
"you worry too much" she spoke bringing her arms up to hug him back
The two resumed walking, their hands still connected.
"this is my hut, goodnight lo'ak" she said smiling softly, the boy reached out to hug her, wrapping his arms around her waist, whispering a sweet goodbye in her ear.
As the two pulled away they couldnt help but make eye contact, quickly lo'ak pulled down pressing his lips against hers, it took her by surprise and caused her eyes to widen but after a few seconds she softened and leant into to kiss. After the two pulled away from eachother she walked to her hut.
"good luck tomorrow " he shouted before she reached the entrance causing her to turn and nod her head in thanks.
