"How is it you're here?"

"Now it's not the time for the explanation," I replied to Damon and turned to sheriff. "What are we going to do with you?"

"You won't tell anyone, will you?" Caroline asked her. She just looked down on the ground, so she wouldn't have to face her daughter.

"Mom?" Caroline addressed her, but she didn't react. "Mom! Please! Look, I know we don't get along and that you hate me, but I'm your daughter. You'll do this for me, right? Mom, please. He will kill you." She referred to Damon, who nodded.

"Then kill me," Caroline's mom said.

"No!" Caroline screamed frantically.

"I can't take this," the sheriff announced. Damon walked over to her and picked her up, ready to kill her like she wanted. However he didn't, when Caroline screamed out, "No! No! No! No! No!"

"Damon, no!" Stefan joined along with Elena, "Damon, please!

"Relax, guys. No one's killing anybody." Damon said and they all let out a sigh of relief.

"We could just compel her," I suggested and they all turned to me.

"That's right. You can compel her as soon as vervain is out of her system," Elena concluded.

We took sheriff into the boarding house, where Stefan and Damon lived, and locked her into a cellar. Caroline brought her some things from home and for me waited interrogation.

"Why are you here, Elizabeth?" Damon asked.

"Maybe I missed you," I replied, smirking at him.

"Sure, that explains the letter you left me in 1864. Aren't you here because Katherine is here?"

"Kat is here?" I played dumb.

"You don't know?" Stefan asked.

"No," I replied firmly. "How could I possibly know? I haven't seen her since 1864." That was actually the truth.

"Yeah, after you broke my heart!?" Damon said hatefully, trying to sound okay with it, but it was clear he wasn't. He wasn't over me still. Few decades back I would say there had remained some feelings, but not anymore. I was clear of him. Nothing remained there. Since Chicago I remembered him just now, when I had arrived back in Mystic Falls. Never before.

"Oh, don't cry about it, love," I looked at him pitifully. "How was I supposed to know you would be that handy to get yourself killed? I did it for your own good," I fired at him.

"That's how you imagine good?" he fired back at me.

"You shouldn't have died! It's not my fault, darling," I gave him a small smile. He looked at me with disgust and hatred like if everything was my doing. It wasn't my fault he had got himself killed and turned into a vampire.

"Okay, so, let's suppose that you really didn't know about Katherine. Why are you here?" Stefan ignored my and Damon's conversation and continued to interrogate me.

"Why would I be here? I want to ruin your lives and kill everyone you love. Is that what you want to hear?" I asked arrogantly. "I just wanted to visit the town for a while." They both looked at me without any sign of trust. It was obvious they didn't believe me. But I wasn't lying. I really had not known about Katerina, when I had come into town. And my intentions had been good.

"Should we really believe this?" Damon asked.

"You want to know the truth?" He swallowed and swung from one leg to the other.

"I missed you," I walked over to him and intended to stroke his cheek, but he shoved my hand down. He wrapped his fingers around my neck, vamp-sped to the wall and pinned me to it.
