After that detection Elena decided to leave and started packing up her things, when Stefan rushed down.
"Stefan, what are you doing here," Elena asked him. Stefan looked into the entrance of the tomb and then at Elena, "I could ask you the same question." Elena sighed, "Caroline told you."
"No, she kept your secret," Stefan defended her, "but it didn't take long for me to figure out what was so important that you'd have to keep it from me."
"I knew that you'd stop me," Elena replied.
"Listen to me. Whatever they said to you is a lie," Stefan pointed towards the tomb. "Do not listen to them, they are liars, Elena!"
"What if they aren't?! You didn't hear what they said."
"You don't have to worry. I won't let anything happen to you," Stefan assured her.
"That's the problem," Elena breathed out, "you won't. If you die trying, how's that any better?"
"There's nothing you can do, Stefan." Katherine walked on a light and I right behind her. "You could have. If you wouldn't have locked me here. You know, you shouldn't judge people based on who's their brother or just because of their family. Now, you're screwed. I could have helped you. How sad your precious doppelgänger is going to die without me. With this you signed her a death sentence," I smiled viciously. Well, not that I would have been willing to help him save Elena before. But yeah, theoretically, I could have. Now I surely wasn't gonna do it.
Katerina told them the rest of her story. The part when we had come to Bulgaria in 1492 and found all of her family dead. I never forgot the sadness and anger in her eyes. I never forgot the tears rolling down her cheeks. I had really hated Nik for that.Flashback
---------✨✨✨---------Katerina ran to her mother, crying, "No, no, no, mama. No!" she shook with her, but she didn't even flinch. Of course she didn't. She was dead. Just like the others there.
In that moment my view of my brother changed. I supported him in many things and in many of his actions, but this was too much. He had killed her entire family. Just because she had turned herself into a vampire and prevented him from releasing his werewolf side. Just because I had helped her escape. Just because I hadn't brought her to him and hadn't helped him.
He might have been my brother, but I couldn't have just handed my friend over. I loved Nik, I loved all of my siblings. But that time I hadn't really had a choice. I couldn't have helped Nik. I knew I had broken our value. I should have helped him. It had been a difficult decision, but I had had to make it.End of flashback
---------✨✨✨---------Stefan didn't believe in any of it, obviously, but it didn't matter at all. It was his choice.
3rd person
---------✨✨✨---------"It's a lie, you know," Rose said to Damon. "There's no switch you can turn off. Sure when you're newbe, but after a couple hundred years. You just have to pretend." Damon didn't answer and even if he wanted to, he wouldn't, because Rose's phone started ringing. She picked it up, "Hello?"
"Rose?" Slater addressed her. Rose exhaled, "Slater, are you okay?"
"Yeah, yeah, I took off. I'm sorry, I was freaking freaked."
"No, I'm sorry to involve you," Rose apologized.
"Look, I want no part in any of this, but I did some digging."
