Only Chaeryeong

Part 20: Decision

JY Park's perspective
     Lillian Norbu and Chaeyeon's collaboration song just released to the public last month, and the amount of popularity it gained in a short period of time is extraordinary, even for those two artists. I'm not sure if it was because both of their fans listened to it, or if it was more unique than their other songs that they made. Nonetheless, I know that if they continue to make collaboration songs together, the popularity of the two will continue to grow, and it only being the second year of K-pop generation 5, this could be a huge thing. I decided to call Chaeyeon's manager, Lee Won-min. My phone rung a few times before he answered.

    "Hello?" Asked Won-min.

   "Hello, this is JY Park, the head of JYP Entertainment. I wanted to talk to you about something important." I announced.

    "What is it about?"

    "It's about Chaeyeon."

   "What about her?"

   "She recently did a collaboration song with one my soloists, Lillian Norbu."

   "And?"

  "The popularity of the song is massive." I sighed. It was a little bit before Won-min spoke again.

   "How popular?"

   "It already had received roughly 50 million listeners. It just released last month."

   "Already? That's more that Chaeyeon normally receives."

   "More than Ms. Norbu receives as well."

   "Ms. Norbu?"

   "Lillian Norbu. She's the only Norbu I have, so I occasionally call her Ms. Norbu."

   "That makes sense, but isn't she married?"

  "No, she just has a girlfriend. Lillian had a marriage ban rather than a dating ban since I knew she could still work while being in a relationship with someone, but has to place a ban of some sort."

   "Ah, I see. Well, what's this call supposed to be about exactly?"

  "I want to try to have the two form a group together. People seem to really like their collaboration song."

   "If Lillian was part of WM Entertainment, I would say yes, but I'm not too sure. They're both part of different entertainment, I'm not sure if it's possible."

   "It could be, nobody's ever tried it before."

   "Probably because the composing of music, choreography and such would be odd."

   "Ms. Norbu composes her own songs, and makes her own choreography. She makes all her songs on her own, I'm just her manager."

  "So what you're saying is that we could just have the two make their own songs while we manage them and make sure they don't get off track?"

   "That'd be what I'm trying to say, yes."

   "What about the dorm situation and the training room they use?"

   "Well, Chaeryeong didn't like it when Chaeyeon was staying at Lillian's dorm. We could have them in their current dorm, and use any training room they want." I explain.

   "Okay, but how do we know if this would work out?"

   "We don't, but it's the fifth generation of K-pop now, and a year has passed, and the only thing that stands out from the 4th generation right now is Lillian, and the collaboration between Ms. Norbu and Chaeyeon. If we can make things work out and have them form a group, it'd be something significantly new. And who knows, maybe we can have the new Queens of K-pop."
