Chapter 14: Back to school

Walking into school was a hassle, made me wish I could just teleport. But Recovery Girl told me not to use my quirk as much. I was pretty much late to my homeroom, stopping my the nurses' office to see Recovery Girl, both to get my daily dose of her treatment and to see her in action. Staring at the door I heard the chatter from the other side, I take a deep breath before sliding the door open. I stepped foot into the class, closing the door behind me. Everything went quiet instantly.

I gulped discreetly, feeling completely awkward. Sticking out like a sore thumb. The only positive to the situation was that Mr. Aizawa, who despite looking like a mummy, was asleep in his sleeping bag.

"YOU'RE OK!!" Mina cheered, being the first one to jump from their seat.

"How're you feeling?" Tsuyu questioned. "Shouldn't you still be at home or at the hospital resting? Ribbit."

"Agreed, you shouldn't be pushing yourself. You wouldn't want to risk your health any further." Momo said maturely, her hands on her hips.

I didn't know what to do, I was basically surrounded by the girls in my class, saying one thing after another. I couldn't keep up and deal with all of this attention. Especially since it's all positive. Definitely not something that I am used to at all.

"You've been gone a couple of weeks. Good to have you back, tiger." Kirishima said with a thumbs up and a bright smile.

Tiger?

"Oh yeah! Speaking of that, your tail and cat ears are like the cutest thing!!" Mina gushed.

Hold up CAT EARS?!?! A TAIL!?!?!

I hurriedly pull up my camera to find that instead of my normal ears, I indeed do have cat ears atop my head. I turn around to look at my backside. Sure enough, there lies a tail. On instinct, my ears fold down, and my tail curls up into my skirt.

"C-cute? I have fucking cat ears girl!" I yell at her, confusion along with embarrassment bubbling in my stomach.

"Well yeah! I don't get why you look so surprised! Obviously, tons of people have called you cute!" Toru said cheerfully.

"No... I'm just finding out about this too." I say.

"You're kidding!"

The girls and even a couple of the guys were jumping on that case, no matter how ridiculous that sounds. They were so loud, and I cover my new ears, shrinking away, pressing myself against the door. I noticed that everything was not louder.

"HEY, WILL ALL OF YOU JUST SHUT THE HELL UP?!?"

Make this be the only time I say this, but I was for once actually grateful for Bakugou's top-of-the-lung screaming.

"Will you losers just leave her the hell alone?! It's her fucking first day back and all your side characters are jumping on her case! Just sit your asses down, if Akio didn't think she was well enough to come back to this hellhole of a class, she wouldn't fucking be here!"

To say I was surprised would be an understatement. 1) He didn't insult me. 2) He called me by my name instead of freaky bitch or whatever. 3) He was loud, but didn't sound obnoxious or anything. His voice was just raised to get the point across and because everyone else has been quite loud too.

A small smile formed on my lips as everyone stared at Bakugou like they had no idea who he was. Izuku even looked faint.

"He's right," I say softly, making him look at me with a raised eyebrow. "I mean, I'm not 100% better, but I'm well enough to come back to school. I can't do any physical activities or do any sort of heavy lifting that might make me strain myself, but it's better than being bedridden. Also, shut up about the cat ears and tail! I'm just not figuring them out for myself too!!"
