Chapter 29: Intermission

"And with that folks, the first round of battles are over! The second match advancers are Mina Ashido, Eijiro Kirishima, Katsuki Bakugou, Tenya Iida, Fumikage Tokoyami, Kimi Akio, and Shoto Todoroki!" Mic shouts, his voice booming around the crown as the cheers of the fans cloud my thoughts.

"We will now be taking an intermission for recovery girl visits, contestants, feel free to visit your families, or recovery girl. Battles will commence soon." Midnight says as she cracks her whip.

All of us standing in the arena area, leave to head for the stands. I turn to walk up the stairs to try to find my family but I feel a cold hand on my shoulder.

"Hey." A voice says behind me.

I turn around and find a blue and gray eyed boy looking at me.

I frown," What do you want, Todoroki?" I practically growl, my teeth baring and my ears lying flat against my head.

"Can we talk in private?" He looks sad, well not sad. That boy just looks numb inside, but he looks more numb than usual.

It might be the right thing to let him talk to me, I'm curious about what he has to say anyways. "Sure, but make it quick." I say.

He looks relieved as he beckons me to follow him to a hallway hidden from the view of the stadium.

He leans against the wall while I sit down opposite of him. "So, what do you want, I said make it quick."

He stays silent still, his eyes traveling around my body. "Hey I said-"

"Why do you hate me, what did I do, I thought we were friends?" He said, his heterochromia eyes bore into mine. So that's what this is about. I should have guessed this is what this little "talk" was going to be about.

Might as well give him the real explanation, "You said, at the very beginning of the sports fest, that you weren't here to make friends." I glare right back at him, his eyes widening slightly as I say this. "You have no idea how much that hurt me, I had never had a friend before you. I was so happy to finally get to bond with someone." I feel tears pricking my eyes. "Then you go on and say that you aren't here for that, that you are just here to win, that really hurts, Todoroki. You have no idea." The tears spill out unwillingly and the sobs take over my body.

"I'm sorry." He says and then I feel arms wrap around my body, holding me tight while I cry. "I'm so sorry Akio."

I look up to his face to see that there are tears on his cheeks as well.

"I've never had a friend before. Never. My father wouldn't let me play with the other kids and I certainly wasn't allowed to go out and hangout with friends at school." He sighs. "I guess what I'm trying to say is I'm not used to having a friend, sometimes I forget that I can turn to you for anything, Akio. Thank you for that."

I smiled into his chest, where my tears had soaked through his gym clothes. "I do have to go see my family though."

"Right of course." He jumps back and wipes his hands on his knees.

"I'll see you later... When I beat your ass in the sports fest!" I pump my fist and then walk out, with him following close by.

"No you won't." He says back numbly.

Bakugou POV

I'm walking out of the bathroom as I see that damn Icy Hot and Akio walk out of a hallway hidden from the view of everything else. It looks like there are tears on both of their cheeks, but Todoroki is wiping them off quickly. Akio on the other hand doesn't even try to wipe them off her face. Like she's used to everyone seeing her cry, to everyone seeing her as a vulnerable little girl with a villainous quirk.

Akio turns around to wave goodbye to Todoroki and walks up to the stands. Todoroki waves back at her, a slight smile on his lips. This pisses me off.

"Hey Icy Hot!" I yell at him without thinking.

He turns around to answer my call "Yes Bakugou?" He says, the cold stare back in his icy blue eyes.

"What were you and Akio doing in that hidden hallway." I ask him with a disgusted look on my face.

"Why do you care?" He stares back at me, his gaze piercing my skin.

I scoff, "I don't care about anything you and that Bitch are doing."

"Don't talk about her like that, you have no idea what she is going through." His gaze gets darker and his aura is menecing.

"Tch, never mind icy hot." I say, "I'll see you later, when I beat your ass into the ground." With that, I turn my back on him and walk away.

Kimi Akio POV

"Mom, mama!" I run over to where they are seated and give them both a big hug.

"Sissy!" My youngest sister yells as she jumps on my back, giving me a big hug.

Mama and Mom get up from where they are seated and give me a proper hug to congradulate me on my wins.

"You are doing so good hunny! Keep it up." My mom pumps her fist high in the air, and jumps up.

"Mom stop you're embaressing me." I look to where the other parents are watching us with a confused look on their faces.

My Mama laughs as she brings her wife's hand down and holds on to it. She grabs my hand with her free one. "We are very proud of you bean. I have a question for you."

"Yes?"

"Who was that handsome boy you walked off with." My mama winked as my whole face turned beet red.

"Mom, stop!" I yell, covering my face. "He's just my friend."

"Yeah yeah, what's his name?" My mom asks, glaring daggers through my hands straight into my eyes.

"His name is Shoto Todoroki." I say quietly.

"Shoto Todoroki as in Endeavor's son?!" My mom yells. "Why didn't you tell me this sooner?!"

"Quiet dear, you're making a scene." My mama said, laughing at her antics.

"Mom, stop!" I hiss at her, flattening my ears to my head, and putting my tail between my legs.

"Honey I-" The loud speakers cut her off.

"All contestants please make your way back to the stadium for the second round of battles to commence!" Mic said over his speakers.

"That's me."

"Good luck hunny! Win! Win for Kokoro." Mama says, She hasn't spoken Kokoro's name in years, this must be really important for her.

I will win, I will win for her.
