Seventeen: “You’ll Always Find Me Right Here Again”

~Bri~

I was chilling in the green room with Ron Ficarro, the new bassist for FIR. He’s such a chill guy. A little perverted, but that’s totally normal. I mean, I have yet to meet a musician who isn’t at least a little inappropriate. “So what was it like being in I Am Ghost?” I asked Ron, leaning against the wall near his seat.

He looked up at me, shrugging. “Its wasn’t anything too extraordinary. We didn’t have a huge fan base, so it was like being in a local band that just happened to be signed to Epitaph.” he bumped my leg with his can of soda. Ron was still a little touchy on the ‘no drinking or drugs on tour’ policy Ronnie has. I honestly have no problem with it. In fact, I put the same rule into effect for my band. It’s better that way. “Who are you signed with by the way? I heard you guys were switching labels after this tour.”

I nodded. “Yeah. We’re signed to this shady as fuck label that no one outside of North Carolina has heard of.” I laughed, thinking of how crazy it is to be signed to such an unknown label, yet we got on such a big tour.

“So,” Ron frowned at me. “How did you guys land a spot on this tour?”

“My drummer, Julz, got backstage passes to a Never Shout Never show like, a year ago and well,” I said, laughing at the memory before continuing. “Long story short, we ended up being friends with Christofer, which somehow got us dragged on Code77’s first tour. Did you hear about it?” when he nodded, I moved on. “It was nuts. But anyway, after that, Chasing Starz got put on this tour and they recommended us as the third band. And the rest is history.” I frowned slightly. “Or whatever people say.”

“That’s pretty crazy.” he told me, laughing. “So, any idea on who you’re going to sign with?”

I sighed, crossing my arms. “Well, Fearless and Epitaph have contacted us. Like, repeatedly. Those are the only two we’re actually taking seriously. I’m pulling for Epitaph, but our bassist is saying we should do Fearless. He’s obsessed with the idea of being on the same label as Upon This Dawning.“ I rolled my eyes at the thought. Zack is the biggest UTD fan girl ever. Which is sad since he’s a grown ass man. “And then Christofer wants us on Loveway.”

“Loveway Records? Isn’t that his label?” Ron cocked an eyebrow when I nodded. “Being sighed to your boyfriend’s label…No offense, but that sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.”

I nodded. “Exactly. I completely agree with you.” Christofer wasn’t thinking this plan all the way through. The only thing going through his mind is ‘My girlfriend’s band needs a new contract with a bigger label. I have one. Problem solved’. But its not that simple. Clearly, we’d have free rein if we did sign with him. But then again, that could cause a HUGE problem if we ever have another messy breakup. “I guess we’ll see what happens.” I said just as Ronnie walked into the room. “Hey.”

“Hey, Dollface.” Ronnie said, grabbing my hand to pull me on the couch with him. “Ron, I hope you haven’t been flirting with my girl.” he chuckled, throwing his arm over my shoulders. “Again.”

Ron cocked an eyebrow at us, a smirk clearly playing on his lips. “Last time I checked, she was Ingle’s girl.”

“She’s mine on the weekends.” Ronnie told Ron, smirking at me.

I rolled my eyes at Ronnie, trying my best not to smile. But it was hard. I also felt my cheeks starting to heat up. Which was completely weird. Did Ronnie‘s smile really just make me blush? “Watch it, Thunder.” I said, turning my head when Ronnie tried to kiss me. He caught my cheek instead of my lips. “My boyfriend is in the venue.” I told him, a nervous laugh escaping my lips.

Ron stared laughing at us. “Alright, what the hell is going on between you two?” he asked. “Like, what is actually going on? Not that bullshit cover story you two came up with.”

“Not a damn thing.” Ronnie said with a chuckle before getting a serious look on his face. “But I need to talk to you about something, Bri.” he told him, standing up and pulling me with him. “Come outside for a second.”

I frowned, confused by his expression. “Uh, okay. We’ll be back, Ron.” I said as I was dragged out of the room, down the hall, and out a back door staring at Ronnie’s back in confusion the whole time. What the hell did Ronnie need to talk to me about? And more importantly, why couldn’t he talk about it in front of Ron? I understand we’re all still a little on edge after what happened with Mika, but still. “Hey.” I said as we came to a stop behind the venue. “What’s going on?”

He leaned against the wall of the venue, crossing his arms. “We have some loose ends to tie.”

“Loose ends?” I asked, frowning in confusion.

He pointed his finger between me and him. “Us. Tell me what's going on here.”

“Ohhh.” I sighed, knowing that this conversion was long over due. Honestly, me and Ronnie have never really worked out any type of agreement about what was going on between us. I guess we probably should’ve figured it out before we had sex. But we just never got around to it. “You tell me, Ronnie.” I told him, crossing my arms.

“You staying with Ingle?” he asked, cocking an eyebrow at me.

I flinched, completely taken aback by his question. “What?” I asked in awe. Did he really just ask that?

“Are you staying with Ingle?” he repeated himself, sounding a little impatient for my answer. “This is kind of a pick-one-move-on situation.”

My eyes widened as I realized what he was asking me to do. “Ronnie,” I said, trying to hide the fact that I was freaking out on the inside. But I failed horribly. “Are you asking if I’m going to leave Christofer for you? Or am I completely misunderstanding something?” Please let me be misunderstanding this.

He grinned, rolling his eyes at me. “I’m asking if you’re staying with Ingle.”

“But why?” I asked, getting more and more confused by the second. “Why does it matter?”

He sighed. “You know that chick I‘ve been talking to lately? Sally?” when I nodded, he continued. “I’m thinking of making things serious when I get back. But ah,” he rubbed the back of his neck. “I just wanted to figure out what we were first.”

“Oh thank god.” I said, exhaling and finally understand what he was saying. Sally was a girl he’d met a few weeks back. I knew he’d been talking to her, but I never thought he’d end up dating her. They didn‘t seem like a match. “You were scaring me for a second.” I told him with a laugh. His lyrics flow perfectly, but this man can honestly word shit wrong sometimes. “But, Ronnie,” I said, shaking my head as I thought of something else. “I’ve seen how you two speak. I’m happy for you, but I think you deserve someone better than her. It just seems like she doesn’t really--”

“Get me?” Ronnie said, finishing my sentence for me.

He knows what’s up. “Exactly.”

He sighed, nodding. “I know. But then again, I can count on one hand the number of people that actually get me, Dollface.”

“I know.” I said, I giving him a sad smile. I feel sorry for Ronnie to be completely honest. We all know he’s slightly crazy. But then again, can you blame him? With all the shit he’s been through in his life, its amazing that he can even function correctly. That’s another reason why I have so much respect for this man. How can I not? “But look, I know you’ve heard this shit before, but its true. One day,” I put my hands on his shoulders. “You’re gonna meet someone who completely understands everything about you, and it’s gonna blow your mind. She‘s gonna blow your mind.” I smiled, patting his cheek. I’m shocked he didn’t push it away. He hates when I do that. “So don’t let Sally be in the way when she shows up. Okay?”

“I hate that you’re right.” Ronnie told me, laughing. “And this is some real bullshit. I’m getting relationship  advice from a 19 year old girl.”

“Hey, I’m 20 as of midnight.” I said, pointing a threatening finger at him before smiling. “Now, I believe we have a show to play. So let’s get our asses inside before more rumors start.”

He laughed at that, but grabbed my arm when I turned away. “Let me know when you’re single, yeah?” He told me, repeating one of the first things he ever said to me with a smirk.

“Not gonna happen anytime soon. But,“ I leaned forward, standing on my toes slightly to push my lips against his. Ronnie’s hands when to my waist squeezing it slightly as my hands went to his hair. This was a light kiss compared to the others we’ve had. And yes, some would call this cheating, and on some level it is. But I prefer to think of it as ‘one for the road’. We his hands went to my face, I slowed the kiss down before pulling back slightly and smirking. “You’ll be the first to know, Radke.” I whispered against his lips. I took a few steps back, suddenly feeling a little over heated.

Ronnie let out a light exhale, ruffling his hair to fix the parts I messed up. “There’s always gonna be sexual tension between us, huh?”

I laughed as we started walking back toward the door we’d come out of. “Oh, for sure.”

----

Its the last song of our set. Hell, it’s the last song of this tour. And I’m standing here, staring at the crowd in awe. It doesn’t matter how many times I stand up here and see this view, it always takes my breath away. I could travel the world, see every beautiful site there is to see, but it could never measure up to how staring at a room full of fans makes me feel. Why? Because that’s just it. Staring at my fans actually makes me feel. “Wow.” I said into my mic, smiling at them. “I can’t believe this is our last show on this tour. Its been amazing going around the country with Falling In Reverse and Chasing Starz. We’ve been through some hard shit on this tour. All of us. But we go through it. Thank you all for supporting us all. I think I speak for everyone when I say you all mean the world to us. You’re amazing. We love you.”

I felt myself tearing up a bit. I felt like this at our last show on Code77’s tour too. I guess that’s how it is. I just hate the idea of not seeing my friends everyday. “Alright. I’m gonna shut up now. Let’s jam to ‘Have Faith In Me’!”

I grabbed the guitar off the stand, turning the volume up as I walked back to the mic. Julz had already did her starting drum solo, and Zack and Jake were now doing their parts. I was trying my hardest not to smile when I looked side stage. Christofer was putting his in-ears on and stretching, his guitar leaning against the wall. “Have faith in me,” I sang, pulling the guitar strap over my head. “Cause there are thing in the streets I don’t believe.” I bit my lip, smiling at Christofer. “So cling to what you know, and never let go. You should know, things aren’t always what they seem.” I exhaled, getting ready for the fast part of the song. “Make some noise for Christofer Drew!” And they all flipped shit. I swear I saw a girl near the front pass out when Chris walked on stage.

“I said I’d never let you go, and I never did!
I said I’d never let you fall, and I always meant it!
If you didn’t have a chance, then I never did!
You’ll always find me right here again.”

We sang that together, his mic stand next to mine. Honestly, we were singing to each other. We didn’t give a damn about anything else that was going on.

“I’ve gone crazy. Cause there are things in the streets I don’t believe.” Christofer sang that part alone. It made more sense that way. “So we’ll pretend its alright. Stay in for the night! Oh what a world, I’ll keep you safe here with me.”

I smiled again. Damn. Why does he sing my songs better then me?

“I said I’d never let you go, and I never did!
I said I’d never let you fall, and I always meant it!
If  you didn’t have a chance, then I never did!
You’ll always find me right here, again.”

I took over. “They got me on the outside looking in! But I can’t see it all, with the weight of the world, on my shoulders. They just wanna see me fall! They got me on the outside, looking in! But I can’t see it all with the weight of the world, on my shoulders. They just wanna see me fall.”

Christofer leaned into my mic, making his face only a few inches from mine. The all too familiar scent of cinnamon and cigarettes filling the air, making my world feel perfect again. So is this what true happiness feels like? If so, everyone deserves it. “Have faith in me.” we sang, staring at each other. But this point, Christofer had completely pushing his mic stand away, and dragged my further back on the stage so we could face each other while we sang. How he did it with a guitar in his hand is the question.

“I said I’d never let you go, and I never did!
I said I’d never let you fall, and I always meant it!
If you didn’t have chance, then I never did!
You’ll always find me right here, again!”

The fact that I can sing with the man I’m in love with, and do what I’m in love with is amazing. Two years ago, I would’ve never imaged I would be up here. I’m sure glad I am. I’ve had a hard time this year, but I wouldn’t trade this life for anything.

“I said I’d never let you go and I never did!
I said I’d never let you fall, and I always meant it!
If you didn’t have a chance, then I never did!
You’ll always find me right here, again!

I said I’d never let you go, and I never did.
I said I’d never let you go and I never did!”

I smiled wider as we finished the song. I could barely breathe, and I could feel my lung starting to ache from all the yelling. But that’s what make this life amazing. If I feel like this, I know I did my job right. “We love you all! Thank you for making the last show amazing! We’ll see you soon!” I yelled before running off stage, my hand wrapped around Christofer’s.

When were standing in the parking lot cooling off in the night air, Christofer gave me a look I’d never seen before. He stuck his hand in his pocket, pulling out plain silver ring that matched the gold one he’s been wearing lately. My breath got caught in my throat when he dropped down to one knee. First of all, I can’t believe he’s doing this. Secondly, I can’t believe he’s doing this the normal way this time. “Briana Alexa Thomas--”

“Oh my god.” I said, feeling my cheeks heat up. “Christofer, don’t do--”

“No, hush. I‘m not letting you stop me this time.” he said, laughing and starting over. “Like I was saying. Briana Alexa Thomas, I’ve been in love with you since the second I saw you at Amos’ the first time too many years ago. Since then, you’ve ripped my heart out, broken it, fixed it, gave it back, and then proceeded to steal it again. But that’s okay, because it’s always belonged to you. And it always will.” he laughed when I did. “You’re the one thing I love as much as my music, you’re the only other thing I live for, and I never want to lose you. And yes, I’ve asked you this countless times before, but never like this. So I’m hoping for a different answer this time.” he grabbed my hand, taking a deep breath and looking up into my eyes. “Will you be my best friend, my lover, my wife and most importantly, my player two…forever?”

I laughed at him, feeling tears coming out of my eyes. Remember when I said he was doing this the normal way? I stand corrected. “Your priorities are clearly out of whack, you dork!” I told him, laughing harder and whipping away some tears. “But yes. I will be all of those things.”

He raised his eyebrows at me, a smile slowly starting to stretch across his face. “Really?”

I nodded, letting him slid the ring onto my finger. I laughed when I looked at it. The damn thing actually said ‘player two’. I smiled at him. How could I say no to that? Honestly, I would be crazy not to marry him. I’d never thought of myself as the wife type, and being with someone forever was scary a while back. But with Christofer, being married didn’t seem like such a bad idea.

“I love you,” Chris said when he stood up, leaning his forehead against mine. “Future Mrs. Ingle.”

I rolled my eyes. “I love you too.” I said, kissing him lightly before grabbing his and walking back the venue. Gotta rub this in Julz’s face. She’s gonna be so mad. But then again, this whole thing is her own damn fault. Maybe I can try to force her and CC into getting back together. That way, she won’t be on my case as hard.

“We’re getting more couple’s tattoos.” he told me, wrapping his arms around my waist. “I want like, five.”

I snorted at that, rolling my eyes at the dork I now call my fiancé. “Don’t push it.”
