Karthik

Almost, for the next one week, I looked for a part-time job in our area. None was certainly searching for an employee. Anyhow, fortunately, I procured a vacant seat in one of the computer centers where the previous employee has just been withdrawn

Therefore, nowadays my routine was relatively hectic. Done with college, I would go to my home to refresh, and then within a few minutes, I had to be on my newfound job. The working hour is up to 9 pm and afterward, when I get back to my house, I would help mom in purchasing some of the urgent supplements and shortly after dinner, I would just embark to drown in slumber, but would attain failure in every attempt. Eventually, when I'm tired of striving to sleep, that weariness itself lets me plunge into a deep siesta.

Some days, I always have a desperate urge to release by thinking about Renu but I just control it, which in turn, suffocates me more. This, instead, I would formulate numerous dirty scenarios in my head about Renu. That's one way to regulate my sane mind!

I didn't know I would miss her this much when I asked her to not use her phone!!

Further, my dad had apologized to me for his unpleasant behavior on that particular day when he swatted my plate away and spoke some bitter things to me which had led me to acquire a part-time job.

As an obedient son, I just told him that it was okay and went on with my everyday routine.

At the moment, I am helping a girl in registering for her semester examination. Her unblinking gaze on me alerted my senses. Well, checking out someone is not a problem, especially, not to me. It just boosts my male ego.

"Thank you!" She smiled at me as I successfully enabled her in registering.

After that girl's arrival, so many other girls came to the computer center for the same cause. They all wanted to register for their exams, at the same university as the first girl who came by. I was sure this wasn't a mere coincidence. Because this can be just done in their mobile phones as well. Moreover, these young girls would giggle to themselves and would gawk at me, like I was a miracle.

I wasn't annoyed though. As I had told earlier, it's just an enhancer of my confidence, nothing about those girls' attitudes bothered me. Also, this made the owner of the computer center pleased. 'Never did the center was bustling with these many people in just a week!!' He adduced while speaking to me and was extremely envious of me.

Hence, when just after one week of my job, as I requested him for a week off, he merrily nodded.

Presently, that is, at the midnight of Friday, my parents and I were in Kannagi's home with our luggages, anticipating for the other relatives to assemble so that we could commence our outing in the grand tour bus awaiting out the gate. Grandma, as she was unable to travel much, was escorted by my father to one of her daughters' residence who was also not going to the tour. The reason she denied to arrive was due to Jai and Jeevan's annual examination.

"It's already past 12...where is Renukha's family?" Ryan machan(brother-in-law), hissed towards me as he saw Ezhil's family lurking inside with their luggages.

Now, only Renu and her family are missing! I was more than impatient to glimpse her. It's been almost one month since we had seen or spoken or even chatted with each other.

"Patience machan, there are three females in their family, so it's natural for them to be delayed a bit" He gave me a cool gaze before replying.

"Athu seri, (Right)" he mumbled in a mockery way which although I recognized, did not say anything back.

Then we waited for fifteen minutes, but still, Renu's family did not show up. "Kannagi, give them a call." I asserted to my sister who nodded and ventured to do the same.

"Aunt, where are you?.....oh...okay" she cut off the call and looked at us. "They will be here within minutes." She conveyed to us and then we began to load our luggages in the trunk of the excursion bus.

"Alright, now everyone get inside the bus...I will keep count of everyone!." As me, Ezhil and Ryan machan were arranging our luggages, we laughed at Kannagi's exclamation.

"Keep count? We aren't kids!" Ezhil's mother retorted in a comedic way which made us snicker continuously.

Subsequently, at the entrance of the bus, prevailed Kannagi while regarding the members out loud who are getting inside the bus.

"Athai, mama, appa, amma, new aunt (Ezhil's mother), new uncle (Ezhil's father)" Both of the elderly people, that is, Ezhil's parents, just cracked up at Kannagi's demeanor.

Just then, a car screeched as it paused to the side of the bus. Aunt and uncle hopped out firstly. Followed behind was Ramya, who instantly blushed upon glancing at the person standing beside me, Ezhil, of course.

My heart palpitated furiously as a foot clad in black sandals pressed against the floor.

Renu...

"Renu, come fast!" Kannagi yelled, and the girl I'm in love with jumped out of the car. Nervously, but at the same time, with a smile, she ran towards the bus.

Each of her steps landed hard on my chest as I existed there, mesmerized by her mere presence. Even more so, her black simple churidar and braided hair of her just rendered me speechless and immobile.

She appeared perfect to my eyes.

"Anna (big brother) why are you standing there? Don't you want to get inside the bus?" Kannagi blinked at me from the foyer and I looked around me, perplexed. When did everyone leave?

I hurriedly got in behind Kannagi and surveyed the interior. The elders were seated at the front, whereas, Renu and Ramya occupied the farthest seat. They were conversing with each other and Renu did not even spare me a glance! Did she not miss me as much as I did?

Just before their seat, settled was Ezhil, who waved at me using his hand. Swiftly, I perched myself beside him. On our opposite side were Ryan machan and my sister.

Just as the bus commenced to take off, the disco lights and hip-hop songs were turned on. The elders groaned at the glowy environment. I chuckled at their irritation.

Unpredicted, someone poked at my torso and I tilted my head back to peek at Renu, her face was quite vivid at the illumination of disco lights.

We both just stared at each other without any words exchanged.

"Karthik...want to shift places?" Ramya who was beside Renu questioned eagerly. Renu was terrified. "Akka, our parents are here!!" She whisper yelled.

"Pch! Don't be this scared" dismissing Renu's concern, Ramya stood up and we traded our seats quickly.

Renu crushed herself to the window seat, fear evident on her complexion. "Renu.." she bit her lips and stared out the glass, ignoring my call.

"Seems like it's only me who missed you during these past days." She twirled her face to me abruptly and glared at me.

"How can you say that Karthik? I was going insane without interacting with you." She mumbled back in a low tone.

"Oh...but throughout all this time, you didn't even mind me!" I retorted, feeling rather aggravated.

"Who told you that? Just from the moment I came out of the car...I noticed all your movements. You were standing like a statue upon looking at me, weren't you? I noted all your actions and expressions Karthik, but I was just tricky and secretive" she smiled, thawing my soul.

"You..." I dragged and kissed her cheeks. She flushed at the kiss.

"I missed those chubby cheeks of yours Renu..." I leaned close once more to kiss her cheeks, and planted a long kiss there.

"Let's dance guys!!" My sister suddenly screeched, breaking our serene moment.

Hissing, I looked at her in annoyance. Meanwhile, Renu enthusiastically stood up and went towards Kannagi.

Oh shit!
