Renukha

It was a warm dawn, belonging to the most peaceful day of the week, Sunday. Karthik and I rose way too earlier but still were cuddled up against the mattress, not possessing the mood to drift off from the bed.

"We should wake up," he murmured, kissing the top of my head, while his fingers stroked gently over my arms.
"I don't want to, this feels nice..." I snuggled more closer to his chest, tightening my hold on his torso.

"Renu," his fingers were now brushing my hair, which tickled my scalp. Everything, at the moment, felt so right and comfortable that I did not have the heart to pull myself out of it.

"Keep doing that Karthi," I requested in a soft tone. "Hmm..." He hummed as he continued trailing his hands through my hair. It was utterly cozy that my eyelids became heavy, preparing to submerge in slumber for another time, and before I knew it, I was dragged into an unconscious state.

"Wake up Renu!" Whining, my eyelids ripped open, staring at my dear husband, who has freshened up and worn a green t-shirt and brown shorts.

He was handsome.

As always.

A smile exploded on my lips and I drowsily rubbed my eyes. "Go and freshen up," I brought my hands down from my face and pouted at him. "But I still feel like sleeping..." I really do.

"You have all the time in the world to sleep Renu, but before that, you should eat breakfast and have your medications." I stared up at him, my heart overflowing with immense love for him.

"I love you," I smiled, breaking the eye contact when his gaze started to affect me too much. He leaned down and planted his lips against my forehead, settling a simmering kiss.

"Love you too Renu. Now hurry up, we shouldn't let our little one to starve," I touched my stomach, instinctively. "I still can't believe there is a fetus inside me," I blinked at him and patted my stomach.

Instead of an expressive response, Karthik just smiled tenderly.

And then I obediently went to the restroom and carried on with the morning routine. After donning on a black t-shirt and white knee-length skirt, I began towel drying my hair, concurrently, sauntering towards the kitchen from where the delicious aroma of chicken curry came.

"Karthi, it smells so good!" I rushed beside him and peeked at the boiling chicken curry as Karthik removed the lid to check If the chicken was cooked well.

He took a piece of chicken from the pot using the spatula and blew air on it. "Show ah," he urged and I obliged instantly by parting my lips.

The second the chicken piece was munched by my teeth, the yummy extractions naturally spread over my tongue. I closed my eyes as I savored the taste. "It's heavenly!" Heeding my appreciation, a grin found its way onto Karthik's lips.
