Karthik

For the next whole week, Renu was completely involved in aari work that sometimes I wonder If she has forgotten about my existence. However, I made sure to affirm my aliveness to her every night without fail.

At the moment, Renu was frantically packing her stuffs to attend the first day of her college. "Hurry up, hurry up, drop me in college," she slung the backpack on her shoulder and tugged my hands, while I stood unbothered at the entrance of our room, adoring her expressions.

"Karthik!" She almost screamed in my face. "Calm down Renu, there's still time for your college to commence," She frowned, then shook her head as she replied hurriedly.

"I have to be there a bit earlier Karthik. Only then I could figure out my classroom and get settled in there," the nervousness laced within her voice rendered me suspicious.

"Why are you being so anxious Renu?" She shifted on her legs and shrugged, the impatient frown still prominent over her countenance.

"Be cool, okay? Everything will go on smoothly," she nodded her head as I cupped her cheeks. I then let my eyes travel over her appearance. She was clad in a pink plain churidar, looking adorable as ever. Her hair has been braided and was cascading elegantly on the left side of the shoulder. Her eyes were sketched with Kajal, highlighting her mesmerizing gaze, and there was a small black bindi between her eyebrows, which brightened the overall beauty of her face.

Then my stare fell on the vermillion painted at her hair partition. It stirred something in me. She doesn't really wear this when we are at home.

Smiling, I brushed my thumb on her slightly pink lips. She hasn't worn any lipstick today and I leaned down and pecked at her lips while squishing her cheeks.

Once our lips grazed, I couldn't constrict my desires. Hence I, carried away by the natural instinct, continued to kiss her now plump lips.

Renu responded for the first few minutes but then pushed me away with a heavy sigh. "Later," she muttered, heaving my hands and pulling me out of our home.

We reached the college within a few minutes, and as soon as Renu hopped down, I stopped her by holding onto her wrist. My hands clutched the thaali that was hidden behind the neckline of her clothes and displayed it out.

"Karthi.." she dragged, looking down at her thaali and then around the students spread out on the campus.

"What? Let everyone know that you are already taken! I don't want to fight with any kids," She chuckled and softly pinched my arms.

"Seri (okay) now go inside," she waved her hand as she obliged my words and walked away along with the crowd.

Renukha

Somehow finding my class, I made myself comfortable in the first row. Other rows have already been occupied by other students. And as I did a once-over through the class, I gathered that there were quite a large number of boys than girls.

"Hey," I turned to my side, regarding the source of the voice for a few seconds before flashing a small smile. She looked simple, a black churidar, face devoid of any artificial decorations, and her hair was tied into a ponytail.

I didn't miss how her face turned into a realization mode as she took in the married symbols that my appearance gave off.

"You are married..? How old are you?" Her serious tone earned quite a lot of scrutiny and the girls behind our row also has their confused gaze fixed on me.

"Yes...and I'm 18," I couldn't comprehend their thoughts, indeed, but their faces were that of pure skepticism.

"Eloped away?" I shifted my scrutiny to the girl beside me and slightly nodded. She has the guts to ask such things openly as If we have been friends for a long time. Nevertheless, I did not feel offended.
