fast footsteps were heard as the sound travelled upstairs with giggles. both of them rushing to get to the bedroom first, wanting to continue taking buzzfeed quizzes. some may think they're immature for their age, but they just felt comfortable with each other to let their inner child run free; besides, the two boys have been together since the oldest moved next door.
"do that quiz!" the youngest squeaked out, pointing at a 'what object represents you' quiz, leaving the other one to nod as he clicked in, pressing down on the keys to write out his name.
san.
"don't look at my answers!" san pushed his best friend away, shoving a pillow in his face jokingly as they both started laughing. "okay! don't take too long!"
san stared at the screen in focus, making sure he answers everything correctly before hitting to get his answer. "i got.. a water drop?" he showed the now uncovered boy with furrowed eyebrow. "i don't get it-"
"san read what it says! that's obviously you!"
you're very chill and love doing what you want. you don't care about what others think, and you value life.
"yeah, i guess you're right" he spoke with a shrug, handing the boy his laptop as he sat next to him, hugging his waist. as he watched the boy punch in his name, he zoned out as he felt his body relax against his hug.
wooyoung.
"a tree!" wooyoung exclaimed, jolting san out of his peaceful imagination. "what?" he asked, confused before taking his eyes off wooyoung officially, looking at the screen.
'you're full of life, and you love learning new things. you spread your kindness everywhere and treat everybody equally.'
"that is so you, youngie." he smiled, his heart fluttering as he saw wooyoung smile back. their silent moment had been interrupted by san's phone buzzing a few times with messages. it was his mother, saying to come home instantly.
something in san's gut felt wrong, he couldn't shake off the feeling as he pleaded goodbye with wooyoung and his mother.
"bye sani! i'd see you next time!!"
"laters youngie, i'd be back again, soon!"

walking home, san couldn't help but overthink every possible outcome of what would happen once he enters his house. don't get san wrong, he loves his parents, moreso his mom rather than his father.
oh how he hated his father with all his mighty will after he turned 10. it's been 5 years since he caught his dad cheating. his maturing 15 year old brain could finally understand that it was wrong, and disgusting but he never had the heart to tell that to his mother -- not just cause his father threatened him, but he couldn't stand seeing his mother sad and not smiling.
entering his house, he saw his mother in tears, making his heart break. "mom? what's going on." mistake one. he spoke louder than he should have, alerting his father of his presence. he followed her eyes upstairs, seeing his stuff flying out of his room, anger boiling inside of him as he went upstairs.
"san!" his mother cried out as he barged into his own room as his eyes widened. his room was a whole wreck than what he left it to go see wooyoung. everything was flipped upside down, clothes on the floor, bed unmade, desk and dresser drawers out. san eyes darted around the room, looking for one specific, feeling his heart thumping loudly as he couldnt find it before his eyes landed on it.
his notebook; the only thing that he was able to say his true feelings and thoughts. he had it since his first therapy session when he was 13. it had everything that san never dared speaking out of in there.
"d-dad give me tha-" he felt his heart stop, a lump in his throat as he saw his dad reading through his notebook. their eyes met as he saw the anger and disgust in his eyes.
"what the hell is this?!" his dad screamed out at him, closing the book as he threw it to his son. "i-it's nothing.. stop-" he flinched at the book, hugging it tightly to his chest as he felt his tears sting his eyes.
"you are crazy san. a fucking psychopath! and to top it off, you're gay too! no son of mine, will be a crazy gay faggot!" his dad's words felt like knifes being thrown at san but it was his fault for not hiding his book properly. he opened his mouth to speak but his words wouldn't come out, as he felt his jaw getting gripped.
"choi men do not cry. what a fucking disgrace. i'm getting rid of you cause you obviously so need the help." mr.choi let his jaw go with a push, letting san stumble a bit against the wall.
san cried and cried, his vision getting blurry as he still gripped onto the notebook. he was blaming himself for everything. for gaining a crush on his best friend, being gay, having issues that bothers his family, writing his stupid feelings out on a notebook.
he lost track of time as he stayed in the same position as he was when he was being yelled at by his dad. his room was now pitch black as his mother did come in to check on him, but he was just in an episode so he was non verbal.
his vision adjusted to the darkness as he heard voices downstairs.
"he's upstairs in his room."
san reacted late, his door swinging open as he saw two tall new figures enter his room. his eyes widened in horror as his dad was behind them, turning on the lights. he hissed at the sudden brightness before seeing the two males, getting closer to him.
loud screams and cries were heard from the boy's lips as the males grabbed him. swinging him over one of their shoulders, the other male grabbed san's packed bags. "mommy!" san cried and cried for his mom, looking at her as his father held her back. "i-id be here for you, when you're back san-ah" her voice cracked as she saw the appearance of her son.
san was strapped down into the van, his bags being thrown next to him as the two got into the car. his voice was getting strained as he still screamed for help. he didnt want to go to wherever he was going, he just wanted to be home. be with wooyoung.
his body went limp as he started falling to his side, tiredness overpowering his body as he laid his head against his bags, falling asleep. the last of his tears slipping for the last thing on his mind.
wooyoung.
