bars across the windows that still lets the sun seep through, brightening up the white creamed color walls suffocating the dull bedroom. that's all san wakes up to everyday. his eyebrows furrowing as he slowly woke up with mumbled grumbles to due the brightness.

upset that his dream got interrupted, he rubbed his eyes as he sat up. he looked over at the other bed in his room, seeing his roommate still asleep. sighing, san removed the mesh, yet thin and short blanket from his body, letting his legs fall over the bed's edge as his feet touches the cold flooring.

you'd expect him to hiss or wince at the coldness of the marbled white floor, but he has gotten used to how cold the floor is. san shuffled his feet over to yet another white colored furniture in the room; his desk-- well, his and his roommate's desk. they had both agreed to split the desk in half, just like how they split the room.

his stern expression softened as his fingers touched the cover of his notebook. he took it a bit too quickly as if he's been separated from it for too long. "san.." the sudden voice made him flinch as he snapped his head around, seeing his roommate now awake. "oh, good morning." san replied as he sat on his bed, opening his notebook with his dully sharpened pencil.

"what are you-" the blonde's eyes finally adjusted to the whole room in general before looking at the item in his hand. "writing about wooyoung, again?" yes the blonde knew about san and his obsession with his best friend, but it's not like he never been in that position. "yeah, i have a few more days left before i can finally leave."

"he really keeps you sane huh."

"yeah, he really does.." san's cheeks flushed up as he spoke about wooyoung. he felt the space in the bed next to him dip as he looked over. "it's okay san, i've been there. just write it out." his newly friend patted his back as san gave him a small smile, flipping to a new page to write in.

the door to their bedroom opened as the two boys looked up. "san come on, it's time." the worker said as she opened the door more. "coming sire." san placed the notebook under his pillow as he waved off to his roommate, following behind sire, as they walked down the narrow light grey hallways. "you're getting better, you know that?"

"mhm, just trying to get out." she been telling san he's been getting better for the last 2 years. san been advised into this asylum since that night, making this his third year. he hated all the small conversation sire would try to make with him. overanalyzing her these past years, he assumes she had a crush on him, even though she like 5 years older than him.

she paused outside the room, swiping her card as the door unlocked, opening it for san. "good luck." san shrugged it off, entering as he sat in the usual seat, looking straight at his therapist. "good morning san, have you taken your medications today?"

"no." it wasn't intentional that he didn't, he just forgot or moreso, sire "forgot" to give it to him. his eyes followed his therapist's hand as he saw his medication appearing, he felt himself shrink against the chair. "luckily, i have them right here.. let's take them, yeah?"

a small sigh was heard as he reached over, grabbing his pills from the blue haired hands, taking the cup of water from the desk as well. "there, see?" he opened his mouth, moving his tongue around as he showed that he swallowed the pills.

"good job san, your progress from when you were first here seemed to improve a lot." his eyes rolled at the words, tired of hearing of his known progress.

"hongjoong, please.. can we just cut to the chase?" he whined out tiredly, seeing that he won as he saw hongjoong nod, looking through his notes. a smile tugged at hongjoong's lips, which confused san a lot. "let's get this last session over with."

last? what did he mean by last?

san nodded, raising an eyebrow as hongjoong took that as approval to begin speaking.

"how do you feel after being in here for 3 years?"

"like nothing? i don't feel any weird.. just betrayed by my father."

"father, right.. he's the reason why you were sent here, how do you feel about him still?"

"that man isn't my father any more."

the whole meeting went on like this. asking questions, checking up on how san felt, making sure he was sane.. not like he wasn't already, or that's what he'd like to say.

"one last thing san, why are you so obsessed with him."

"him?"

"wooyoung."

"oh, wooyoung never judged me like everyone else did. he still stayed by my side even at my worst moments. who wouldn't be obsessed with someone like that?"

"would you ever hurt him?"

"no, of course not. not ever in my life. i love wooyoung." san felt offended at that question. he'd never hurt his best friend, he would do whatever it takes to make sure he never frowns or sheds a tear.

hongjoong nodded, standing up with san as he pulled him into a hug. "i'd miss you san."

"miss?" san asked confused as he pulled away from the hug.

"you got early dismissal. you're all good to go back to wooyoung."

hearing those words, san felt his heart stop for a second. he'd see wooyoung again. his.. wooyoung. he hugged hongjoong again before excusing himself, seeing sire at the door. "so you heard."

"yeah, i wont miss this place at all." they had a small conversation as she walked him back to his room, unlocking his door for him. "yeosang! i'm leaving!" san called out happily, excited to tell his friend the news as he entered his room, seeing only one bed. he turned around, looking at sire. "where's yeosang..?"

san would never forget the expression sire gave to san. it made him feel like as if he was crazy. "who's yeosang, san?" his heart dropped as he looked around the room again. did he imagine yeosang this whole time he was here?

yeosang and san has been friends since sire stopped giving him his medications, saying he had to learn to not rely on them, just like how another patient in the asylum is. shaking off the feeling, he grabbed his notebook from where he last had put it, nodding to sire to confirm that he was ready.

"just make sure you take your meds everyday." hongjoong reminded him as he decided to be the one who dismisses san.

"i will, don't worry!" san actually meant it.

he wants to be better for wooyoung.
