After I cried till I had no more tears, we sneaked out of school. It was very easy since there was a door that no one notices. Anyone that wanted to skip school had to go through this door without being caught.
"Where are we going?" Tessa asked right behind me. I rolled my eyes when we got outside. I pulled her to my side.
"We are going to Jessica's favorite place."
"The park. I should have known."
We jumped in my car and left before any teachers can catch us. The ride was only about five minutes but it was silent the whole time. I didn't feel like talking and Tess knew. She didn't say anything. She was the best friend anyone could have. I don't know what I would do without her ever since what happen those many years ago. She keeps me from killing myself, honestly.
I stopped the car in the park's parking area and turn to look at Tessa. She was asleep! How can someone fall asleep in five minutes? She was wide awake before we got in the car!
"We are here!" I screamed in her ear and smacked her in the shoulder. She jumped right awake and yelled out.
"Unicorns!"
"Unicorns?"
"uh...yea unicorns."
"Okay."
Awkward silence.
"Look! We are here!" She jumped out of the car and raced to the swings like the childish teenager she is. I just shook my head. Am I the only semi-normal person in this relationship? I don't even know.
I got out of the car and locked it then I made my way pass the swings. I made sure to push Tessa off the swings. She landed on the soft ground with a cute high pitch yelp. I snicker and continue my way and finally made it to the place I go to everyday besides the cemetery. It was the only huge tree, in the entire park. It must be at least hundreds of years old with white flowers starting to blossom, meaning spring is coming up. That reminded me. Spring break is next week.
I knelt down at the white wood cross with Jessica's name written on it. There was a picture of her when she was fifteen years old. A big smile that made her dimples show, but the strangest thing about it was that her eyes didn't match her smile. There was sadness behind them. I don't know why. I might never find out.
I place her favorite flower near the other flowers, stuffed animals and notes around the cross. It was a Texas star. It was star shaped, the petals were purple and the inside yellow. They even smelled great. I stared at her picture, thinking of where she could be at, if she is alive. I really hope she is somewhere safe and make her way back home where she belongs. I miss her and her parents. Me and my family are the only one that actually like the Vasquez family. Their problem are that they were the richest family in the town since their great grandfather built this town. All inheritances. Rumors were that they were in the mob or they didn't give anybody or the town money when ever they needed it. There were a lot of poor people back then but now the middle class is taking over.
I didn't notice tears were falling down my face. I wiped them away before anyone would notice. I got up before I would emotionally break down. I found Tessa on the slide and join in with her so called entertainment. I actually enjoyed it. It always reminded me of when Jessica would take me to the park and play on the play-set all afternoon. It always brought me a big smile and fits of giggles. I even notice she always seemed happier around me. I could never figure out why.
"I'm hungry!" My best friend that isn't annoying whined out loudly.
"So?"
"I want food!"
