"It's weird, being here," Scaramouche closed and opened his hand, staring at it. He'd been swept off of his feet and sent to another world. Or, rather, the world of a webnovel series he had spent the past few nights reading.

System: Congratulations! You've successfully booted up the character [Scaramouche]!

He whipped his head around, searching for a mirror, and ran up to it, pressing his hand against his reflection's face. "I'm...this asshole?!" He smashed his hand into the mirror, hurting his own hand in the process.

System: Until you reach the novel's end, that is until you're killed by the protagonist... you will be forced to stay in character! Each time you are about to act differently, an error message will pop up and stop your words from being heard! Enjoy playing!~

"Ugh," he sighed, holding his head in his hand. "I need to take a walk..." He grabbed the ridiculously large hat and opened the window of his bed chambers. He jumped out, landing lightly on his feet, and wandered around in the thundering rain.

"I guess I can use this character's skills naturally..." he observed, noticing the air catch him before he came into contact with the ground. "I didn't pay attention to his backstory but..." he looked up at the sky, noticing the cloud cover and lightning strikes... "What a gloomy guy to have everlasting rain once he came to power. Come to think of it," he held his chin, "did this guy even have much of a backstory? All of his scenes were fairly short, just to remind the audience he was the big badie the protagonist wanted revenge against. Ah!" He held the sides of his head, coming to a horrible realization: "The novel was in first person! I don't remember the main character's name! How am I supposed to make sure I get killed if I don't remember his name?! Well, getting killed should be pretty easy, lots of people want this guy's life..."

Scaramouche wandered the beaches, unable to remember where he'd come from before entering this universe, but taking mental notes of the story as much as he was able. In the corner of his eye, he noticed a body. He rushed over and knelt down beside it.

"Are you okay?!" [Error: OOC]

Gritting his teeth, he frowned and instead rolled the individual over. "A commoner?" Looking at the face more closely, he realized this stranger was quite handsome. The stranger coughed, water sputtering out of his mouth. On top of deep wounds, likely caused by a sword, he was covered in lightning strike burns. He was clearly delirious from the pain, looking around and squinting, trying to see his surroundings.

"Don't be scared when I pick you up." [Error: OOC]

Scaramouche curled his hand into a fist, ready to punch the system's message. How did this guy act again? Smug and shitty? He cleared his throat, about to try again, but gave up. Scaramouche picked up the stranger and pressed his face into his chest, shielding him from the rain and wind as he ran back to the palace.

Kicking open the door and thoroughly drenched in water, he strode through the entrance maintaining a prideful stance.

"Don't just stand there like imbeciles, someone fetch a healer!" he snapped. The guards ran around frantically. Guess that was in character enough for the system...

It must've been because he inhabited the body of a character but he seemed to know the layout of his palace fairly well. Scaramouche headed for the bath. He gently placed the stranger down and stripped him of his tattered clothes. Washing him with warm water as he waited for the healer to arrive.

"I suppose I should warm up myself..." Scaramouche found a towel and plopped it on top of the stranger like a blanket. He threw his wet clothes every which way and stepped into the large bath.
