Elena had left me at home to change, the day had gone cold as the night settled. I took the longest shower imaginable and changed into sweatpants and a hoodie. Damon, Elena and Stefan were standing at the entrance of the tomb. Bonnie shot me a smile, that I returned with a wave. Damon couldn't take his eyes off me as Bonnie and Grams chanted the spell, they held each other's hands. The flames on the torches grew tall and they nodded agreeing."It worked." Bonnie breathed out in relief.
"Of course, it worked." Sheila turned to Stefan, "Don't you have some fires to build?" He said bye to Elena and patted me on the back on his way out.
Damon was about to step into the tomb when he saw the look of anticipation on Sheila's face. He extended his hand for Elena to take. "You ready?" Her eyes widened at his words. "You think I'm gonna go in there by myself so you can seal me in?" Damon pulled Elena into his arms, as she glared at him.
"Don't take her in. I'll bring the walls down."
"You'll bring them down if I don't. You think I trust you?" He bared his teeth at her with a pointed look.
I stepped in front of Damon. "Enough. I'll go with you both." I took Elena's had and we walked in. I shook my wand out of the large pocket of my hoodie. "Lumos." Damon took one of the torches and entered the tomb. The cave was darker than expected so I chanted 'Lumos Maxima' to make the tip of my wand brighter. Elena's grip on my hand was deadly.
She tripped over the body of a dusty deceased vampire. "Hange, nice to see you." I looked over my shoulder and saw Anna standing there, using a flashlight. "I rolled my eyes at her. "That's a weird flashlight," she pointed at my wand.
"It's limited edition, from one of my favorite shows." She nodded ad pointed the light to Elena smiling sadistically. "You scream and shriek and even bother to escape, but then you just come right back to it." Elena fell back once again, this time Anna rushed to the female vampire. "Mother!" She glared at Elena with hatred, "Your boyfriend did this, you know."
"His father did—"
"And Jonathan Gilbert. I made a choice a long time ago that it would be Gilbert blood that brought her back to life. I had Jeremy all ready to go, but—"
I took Elena's hand and picked her up to run but Anna pushed me hard. I hit my head on the wall causing everything to twirl. Elena screamed as Anna bit into her and fed her shed blood to Pearl. "Stefan, help Elena." I mumbled holding my head. Blood dripped down the side of my face. "Anna go, get your mother out, before they seal the tomb again." She nodded before mouthing sorry to me.
Stefan returned to me after leaving Elena back with Bonnie. He picked me up and carried me around the tomb looking for Damon. We found him throwing a tantrum deep in the darkness.
"She's not here!" He yelled. "Damn it they threw her in here how can she not be in here!"
"Damon! Come on, we have to get out of here. They're closing the tomb. Hangelina is bleeding out, we have to get her a doctor." As soon as Stefan mentioned Hangelina, Damon took her from him and they rushed out of the darkness. The torches gave out and Damon walked out and up the stairs with Hangelina in his arms. The moonlight shined on her face as he hugged her close tears welling in his eyes. He knew it would take a lot to be forgiven by her. But he will never forgive Katherine for letting his love go to waste.
