Horror was the only way to explain Elena's face. Hey eyes were welling up with tears and even Alaric looked like he wanted to cry. Only Damon came out winning in this game of his. His face said so, he had succeeded in hurting Alaric, what else could he want?I got up from my seat and helped Elena get up. "I need some air." She gasped, her mouth opening and closing in pain. She pulled her coat closer to her body, wrapping it around her tighter, like she needed something to distract her hands, or she'll go back into the grill and punch Damon, he deserved it so I wouldn't try to stop her. "He killed her?" She asked Stefan as he followed us out of the grill. "Damon was the vampire that killed her?"
"I don't know what happened. Alaric said they never found the body." She gasped covering her mouth. "I know. I'm sorry. I just wanted to tell you, but I just... I wanted to know more."
"I was feeling sorry for him, hoping that this whole Katherine thing would change him. I'm so stupid." She shook her head, furiously wiping away unfallen tears.
"He doesn't know about the connection to you. I thought about confronting him, but he's already so on edge." I stepped back Elena moving me away from Stefan and behind her.
"Why are you protecting him?" She yelled.
Stefan sighed looking anywhere but her upset too. "Because you're not the only one hoping that he might actually change."
She shook her head at him. I stared at Stefan, I didn't know what to say in this situation. My eyes then caught sight of something standing on the other side of the street, between two cars, almost like he was trying to hide. The man from outside of Trudie's house.
"Elena." I took her hand and shook it. She looked down at me and I motioned my head to the man. "That's—"
"That man." Stefan turned around and saw him. "We saw that man outside of Trudie's."
Stefan looked back at us then took my hand when he saw the glare I was giving the man. He must have known I would have confronted the man in the middle of the street. Stefan let Elena in first ehn made me go in, I rolled my eyes, feeling like a grounded child.
I headed back to where Caroline was. Carol was doing the raffle already. Care handed me a ticket when I reached her and I frowned, "What is this?"
"You, dear sister, got a date with Bachelor number six." I read the number and yep sure enough it matched the one I had in my back pocket. I nodded and thanked her. "So, are you going to go talk to him? Plan your date?" I raised a brow at her, and she pouted, "What, why not? Sure, he's a little older, but he's cute. You need to get out there and date. I dated Damon, who I'm sure is older than that man."
I glanced at Bachelor number six and shook my head, "I doubt it. Besides, we don't talk about bad men." She nodded and closed her mouth tight.
Kelly walked over with a sigh. "Congratulations, Ms. Donovan." Caroline gave her a sweet tone, she was trying to really get on her good side, she knows how much Kelly means to Matt, but Kelly didn't like the voice my sister used.
I crossed my arms waiting to see when I should jump in, and started counting.
Kelly immediately froze as she was about to hand Care her ticket, she had won the date with the plumber. "Okay, just stop. Stop trying so hard. This thing you're doing, this nice thing, it's fake like you, like your mom, and for some reason Matt fell for it. But that doesn't mean that I will" Caroline's face fell, she stared at Kelly with a blank face, and I was only five seconds in. "I don't like you, okay?"
"Alright," I stepped up, and Caroline was quick to tell me to not say anything but I brushed her off. "Listen here Kelly. Let's say that at least one person in this town doesn't find you a complete cunt, which I doubt they even exist, you are a disgrace of a mother, role model, and person in general." Her eyes widened and looked around with a smile, I didn't give a damn if anyone was listening, but she'd be lucky if no one did. "Here's what you're going to do. Matt already hates you, do you really want to give him another reason to resent the fact that his whore of a mother doesn't like his girlfriend? I don't think so." I smiled at her, but her eyes were glued to the ground. I placed a hand on her shoulder causing her to look at it then at me, "we'll tell your plumber boy to meet you at the bar, where I'm sure you'll be getting drunk like usually. Like old times." I took a step back and sighed satisfied, "It's great seeing you again, Kelly. Let's just not make this a routine. Yeah?" I waved her off and waited till she was gone to relax my shoulders.
Caroline's eyes were wide enough to see the moon. "Thank you. But you shouldn't have done that. She might tell Matt."
"Then let her," I leaned into the stand and grinned. "That just means I get to make her cry next time she says anything that hurts your feelings." I brushed a strand of her hair back and kissed her forehead. "I'll see you at home, yeah?"
She smiled grateful and nodded, "That's not fair. I'm the older sister, I'm supposed to defend and protect you."
"No, you're just supposed to love me unconditionally and let me steal your clothes."
"Oh, Hell no." She pushed me away with a laugh and I walked away, tucking the ticket into my pocket where the other one was.
Elena and Stefan were talking with Damon, more like Elena was telling Damon off for what he had done. "Go ahead. Reminisce about how you killed her." She rushed out of the grill and Stefan followed after her.
Crossing my arms over my chest as I approached Damon, I smiled at him tauntingly. "I wonder, have you met my parents, too? I wouldn't doubt it if it was you who killed them." I walked around him and went to where Elena and Stefan had gone. Out the grill once again.
"Let's get you girls home." Stefan said, but Elena stopped on the sidewalk. Her head tilted to the man who had followed us. I stood behind Stefan then he pulled 'Lena behind him.
"I have a message for you. Stop looking." He said, his hands were in his pockets.
"Stop looking for what? Who are you?!" I snapped. Stefan extended his arm in front of me to stop me from approaching the man.
"She doesn't want to know you. She doesn't want to talk to you. You need to stop looking. Do you understand?"
Elena gasped. "She's alive?"
"Elena, he's under compulsion."
The man once again asked, "Do you understand? Good. I'm done know." He looked to the oncoming traffic and then took a step back when a truck got close. I screamed and fell back covering my eyes, Elena was screaming too as the truck honked at the man right before it ran him over. He didn't go flying like in the movies, every bone in his body cracked with each tire going over him like roadkill.
