Chapter 14

(Narrative POV) 
"What the fuck was that?!" you exclaim, rubbing your temples while uncontrollable streams of tears run down your cheeks. Even if it was really cold outside, you couldn't help but feel drowned in sweat and fear. 

That nightmare made you worried sick, it was very rare for you to even have such a disgusting dream. The amount of blood shed in that dream of yours caused you to grow anxious of what was to come. 

You looked at the clock on the wall, the long arm pointing at 9 and the shorter arm pointed between 4 and 5. It seemed to be around 4am. 

Sighing, you get up and take a nice warm shower. Hopping out, you brush your teeth, put on your undercover uniform and clean your belongings that resembled a significant marking of the fatui. The people were not very fond of the Fatui, never have been. In any whatsoever, so you had to be careful of where you left your trails.

After you had finished dusting off whatever else was left. You decided that it was best to go into one of Sumeru's most unexplored places. The Deshret Desert. It was mainly explored by eremites, fatui and the scarlet king's worshippers. 

It was terrifying to go alone, but whatever happens. You could fight back. The vision Zhongli had gifted you with helped you alot during your latest travels.

You felt a smile creeping on your lips, you adored the way Zhongli cared for you. He looked out for you as if you were his daughter. Despite the fact that he is mora-less, he still took care of you when you took your first step into the world of Teyvat. 

Yes, he used to tease you in order to rile up Childe. But he truly felt like a great friend to you. Whether he seemed uncaring or not. 

Stepping foot onto the desert, you immediately spot the blonde haired traveler with her floating pet. They seemed to be having a conversation in the midst of you finding them.

You smile to yourself, changing into your fake 'liyuean- adventurer' outfit and running up to them.

"Excuse me, but what part of Sumeru is this? I had been outrunning several eremites for quite a long time now and I honestly don't know where I am" you cut in, fakely panting as you gripped onto your knees. Pretending to tremble and act exhausted. 

The two companions sympathized with you, offering you a drink and explaining that you were in fact in the Deshret Desert.

"Paimon thinks you should really get some rest Y/N! After all, you were running all the way from sumeru City from those thieves!" the pixie states, kicking her feet in the air disappointingly at the thought of these eremites. 

You gave them a small smile and a polite thank you before heading off to one of the homes in the village. They offered their room for you to stay in, which almost made you feel bad at the fact you were taking it and that you were just using them.

You rested for a while, eavesdropping into their conversations as the traveler and paimon continued asking around the locals of anything strange.

They were accompanied by a scribe and a general, to which the scribe described you as a suspicious person. 

You, of course, took that to be an offense. Though, Paimon and the traveler denied causing the scribe to sigh to himself and glare at you before taking his leave. 

They were apparently searching for intel on this second new god. Though, there was a hindrance. Their obstacle was presumed to be a doctor that had been working on ANOTHER divine god with the use of enhanced technology and other rare and unobtainable machinery. This God however did not require a gnosis to be powered, rather it was a delusion instead.
