Chapter 22

(Narrative POV)

"Oh no, oh no where is she?!" you screamed, your hands tugging onto your hair. Streams of tears flowing down your cheeks as you scan around for where Mae could possibly be. Yesterday after you and Childe had gone out, she was loafing on the couch. Now, she was nowhere to be found. Completely unrelated to the lovely passage of you and Childe's, this story seemed like an episode. Filled with numerous conflicts and troubles, it seemed never ending. As if Life wanted you to suffer. Badly.

"Maeeee! Maeeee!!!" you called desperately for your pet cat, as if she'd respond to your callings. She was a very lazy cat, which meant that she stayed indoors most of the time. Explaining her pouch that expanded underneath her each time she laid down. Though, this time was different, she seemed to be interested in her new surroundings and started going outside more. This concerned you however because it was unlikely of her to do that.

"Honey, what's wrong?" Childe asks, confused by the worry tattered in your eyes. You let out a loud sigh, feeling slightly encouraged by childe's concern."Well, Mae ran off! I don't know where she went. She usually doesn't just disappear without a trace!" you fumed, stomping the ground like a little child throwing a tantrum.

You were worried sick for your cat."Oh. Um" Childe holds in a giggle before returning to his 'oh-so concerned' face. He sighed and wrapped his arms around your waist while reassuring you that she might just be out exploring and that she'll come back soon.You agreed with his solution and he calmed you down.

As of now, you did not know where mae was. Or so you thought..

"Hey honey, you free?" your boyfriend budges you, you nod. You were currently watching manifest on netflix and did not know what he had been up to, whether he was attending business or tinkering with his items in his rooms.

"What's up?" you ask back, crossing your legs and facing your boyfriend who seemed hunched over the couch to look at you in the eyes."I have a surprise for you!!" He chimed, picking you up bridal style and bringing you to a secluded room in within the cottage. You were confused on his motives but you hoped it was nothing serious.

He opened a door to a secret room tattered with money, candy, sanrio plushies and lots of heart balloons, they included lots of snacks as well. To your surprise, Mae was there too! She was dressed in a light strawberry dress with a strawberry hat. She seemed to delighted to plan this surprise for you with Childe.

"I got you lots of gifts for working so hard!" Childe grins, setting you down on the soft light pink carpet. Everything had sanrio stuff ranging to bags and to even items you use everyday.You grow excited and leap into Childe's arms, hugging him tightly as you feel Mae purr against you leg.Childe let out a breathy chuckle, he absolutely loved it when he spoiled you.

Your reactions were absolutely adorable, as if you were experiencing something new and exciting for the first time."Thank you thank you!" You thanked him gratefully, pecking his cheek before looking at all the packaged goods for you. You could tell by the quality it was licensed from Japan, causing your heart to drop.These plushies, bags, necessities, figurines and collectables were all very expensive!

You couldn't afford them before and it had been your dream to able to own them.You were so astounded by them, opening each gift that laid sealed and unopened. Each was a gift you would cherish for long.

The gifts he had gotten you were undeniably expensive, tattered in sparkles and love. Childe absolutely adored it when you perked up in joy over something so small. And once he gifted you this one heck of a blessing, he couldn't help but fall deeper in love with you.
