Lost at sea

Chapter 7

Both Adrik and I return to the deck as we see the crew rushing around. "What's going on?" I say looking for Nikolai. Mal comes up to us, the only one not in a complete rush. "We're landing sooner than expected. Your help using the tides sent us forward by 5 days." I make a surprised face, I'm most definitely not that strong.

I see Nikolai on the upper deck commanding people around. Probably because we were landing he was back in his Sturmhond look. He looked so in control. Not surprised, he's a prince after all. He looks at me as he points and orders people around. I look back as we both smile. Although he looked different it still felt reassuring.

Soon Adrik and I joined in to help. He blew air in to the sails as the wind died down and I bent the currents of the tides to make the ship move swifter. We'd been working the elements for hours. My arms felt heavy and sore but I pushed through for the sake of the ship. I lean my head on Adrik's shoulder but my head kept bobbing due to his hands moving continuously. We both laugh. He leans over and kisses my head as an apology. I felt a sudden jerk in the ship pulling me away from him. "Hey!" I yell out to Nikolai. "Sorry darling, went out of my control".

He shrugs and looks back out to the horizon. I roll my eyes as Adrik glares him down. This was the first time I've ever seen him jealous. I rub his shoulder as he turns back to his work. I look back to Nikolai and shake my head.

I had fallen asleep working. I wake up to the jolt of the ship hitting the pier. I smile as I jump up onto my feet. As much as I loved the sea I missed home. I mean we were far from home at the moment but I was excited.

We had days of traveling ahead of us and I knew it was going to be exhausting. I feel Nikolai grab hold of my shoulder. "Ready?" I smile and nod my head. We, along with Adrik, Mal and Alina, head over to a guard post nearby. The post had the royal crest imprinted on one side and the first army symbol on the other.

Nikolai seemed to know the guard as they held a lengthy conversation. I stared off into the distance thinking of Paja and Zoya. I missed them a lot. Nikolai taps me on the shoulder. "We're all good to head onward." I smile as I trail behind him looking for Adrik. He surprises me and wraps his arm around mine to hold my hand. "Hello beautiful. Looking for me?" I roll my eyes. "In fact I was" I say as I laugh lightly.

Nikolai stops in front of us and I accidentally bump into his back. "Oops my bad" I say rubbing the back of my neck. He looks between Adrik and then walks off. What's bothered him so much? We hop onto a few horses and Alina rides in a carriage. Spoiled much?

I yawn as my body bounced with the horse. My eyes felt heavy. I hadn't gotten a good nights sleep in weeks and we had been on the road for the past couple days. My body felt weak and I didn't feel up to doing anything. I close my eyes for a second by my head jolts up as I almost fall off of the horse. Saints, I need to get rest soon. I needed to ask Nikolai when our next stop would be, but he was with Alina and I didn't feel in the mood to risk making conversation with her.

"Hey Len, you okay? Len?" I felt like I was about to faint. Mal's voice sounded all distorted. I rub my head as I look up at him. "I'm fine" I probably said that rudely. "Are you sure? You don't look it. I can ask Nikolai if we can stop to rest?" I shake my head. "Im just tired. No one has been on post lately except for the four of us and it's just tiring me out." The four of us were Mal, Tolya, Tamar and myself. Everyone else had been tired from being out at sea and had been taken and long ass "break".

Nikolai gets out of the carriage just in time. "We're going to set up camp here, get your rest tomorrows a big day." I was glad we were taking a break but I was confused as to why tomorrow would be a big day. I walk up to Tamar to ask her. "Tomorrow were entering the fold". Shit.

A/N: sorry I haven't posted in a while again. I had a lot of finals to study for and i took up a volunteer job and it's been super time consuming. I will try to post more especially since the new season just came out. (Tbh they did Nikolai dirty he looks so bad 😭😭). Also sry this chapter jumps around a lot. Love y'all!
