A week later and it was a Sunday, and we were at some stupid meeting. The most important people met to talk about this years events or situations to get ready. Only the royal family, the first army general, the Darkling and I were here. I was sitting next to Nikolai and the Darkling. I stifle a very much needed yawn and the general gives me a stink eye.

"Oh literally stop it. You're trying to hard for someone who looks like lard" I mumble. Nikolai laughs quietly, drawing attention to himself. The Darkling looks at me and knows it was my fault. He uses his shadows to give me a light hit on the back of my head.

"Ow" I whisper.

"Pay attention or next time it'll be more sore" he grumbles.

As they continue talking I start drawing little doodles on the paper in front of me that I was supposed to be taking notes on. I had already finished all the notes on the important things and now I was getting awfully bored.

I feel something kick me under the table, causing me to jump in my seat. I look over to the side of me to see Nikolai smiling with his head rested on his hand. I feel his foot rest on top of mine and I feel my face flush red.

"Are you okay Ms. Oretsev?" the queen asks politely. I nod my head yes as they continue on with the meeting. Vasily grumbles as the next choices goes against his wishes.

I see Nikolai tap my paper with his pen as he keeps his attention toward whoever was speaking. "You look beautiful today, Len" he wrote in very neat and sharp writing. I smile as I tuck my hair behind my ear. I look down at the paper to answer. "Shouldn't you be paying attention to what's going on?" He quickly replies with a simple, "I am, I'm capable of multitasking."

I smile softly. "Apparently not, your A is backwards." He looks at the paper all confused, his brow furrowed and his lips pursed.

"Nikolai, pay attention!" His father yells. Vasily snickers at him from across the table. "Father I am, Lena here just has something important to show me from her notes." Damn he was a good liar, he made his lies sound so natural. His father nods and proceeds with the topic.

I look back down at the paper to see what Nikolai had written next. "I haven't seen you in ages, why have you been avoiding me? Are you mad?" He writes with a sad face at the end. I slowly write, "no why would I be mad? I would only be mad if you did something to me make me mad."

I think he thought I was being sarcastic or facetious, because what he did next was unexpected. As I leaned my head on my hands out of boredom I feel Nikolai's hand snake around onto my thigh. I slightly flinch and turn to him abruptly. He plays a clueless smile on his face as he keeps his attention on the meeting. I could help but squirm a little in my seat.

Nikolai starts speaking his agenda calmly. As he spoke his hand rubbed my thigh slightly. I continue to take notes, trying not to make a scene. I place my hand on top of his to stop it from moving.

Once he finishes speaking I wack his arm softly so no one would notice. "Stop it" I whisper, a tone of annoyance in my voice. Nikolai leans down by my ear, "oh come on you know you love it." I quickly cover his mouth with my hand, not thinking before I did it.

Everyone in the room gives us a disappointed glance while the Darkling just shakes his head at me. "Ms Lena and son, you both have been acting rather weird this whole time. Relax, it's almost done" the queen speaks in a cool manner. "I apologize for my behavior this evening moi soverenyi" I say. She nods and continues on.

I shut my book close once the meeting is over. "I will be sure to inform both armies about the new agendas, ensuring everything finishes as quickly as possible. Thank you for your time everyone" I speak with confidence in my tone now that everything has blown over.

As everyone leaves I pull Nikolai to the side by his belt loop. "You idiot what is wrong with you?!" I question him quietly. He answers softly, his voice quivering a little. I make a confused face as he clears his throat and nods down to my hand. It was right there... "saints!" I think, quickly pulling my hand to my side. "Ugh just- I'll see you later" I mumble. I walk away my face red of embarrassment.

As I step outside I see Mal waiting for me. "I saw that" he laughs. I wack the back of his head. "Be quiet. Nikolai was being unreasonable, again."

"Oh come on, you probably enjoyed it." Mal rests his arm on my shoulder as we walk, making me contemplate if what he said was true.
