"I'm telling you, they're together!" Will's eyes were wide as he leaned across the kitchen table in the Byers-Hopper household. Ever since Joyce had gotten Hopper back from Russia, he just joined them in a new house she bought in Hawkins (after she sold the house in Lenora), to "coparent" with Joyce who didn't want to let go of Jane. Johnathan swallowed a bite of cereal.
"It's not a long shot." He mumbled, milk dripping down his chin.
"Dad and mom?" Eleven furrowed her eyebrows.
"Who else? They're constantly staring at each other and sometimes even whispering so no one else can hear them."
"And they wouldn't just be talking about adult stuff would they?"
"Nope. They're in love." Will glanced from El's waffles back to her eyes. "Madly."
"Yes, sir." Johnathan cleared his throat and stood, bringing his now empty bowl and dirtied spoon to the sink.
"Well why aren't they telling us?" Jane frowned.
"They're probably scared that we'll be uncomfortable or maybe even resent them." Will shrugged.
"What does 'resent' mean?"
"Kind of like hate." Will also got up and put his dishes away. Jane wolfed down her last waffle and ran after her brothers, dropping her dishes off in the process.
"Well what do we do? We want them to be happy..."
Johnathan shrugged.
"Wait and see if they ever tell us?"
"But we don't know for sure." Will stated.
"Yeah, but like 99.9 percent sure, have you seen the way they act around each other? And he has to share a room with her anyways so there's enough room for all of us..." The other brother replied calmly.
"I know how we can make sure..." Eleven smirked. Then she heard footsteps upstairs, it was Joyce, starting to come down. "Mom! Me and Will and Johnathan wanna know if we can head over to Mike and Nancy's?"
"Uh, you'll have to check that it's okay with your dad."
"Where is he?"
"He's getting ready." She made her way to the Keurig to make herself some coffee.
"Ok, thank you." Jane jogged up the stairs and knocked at the door to the bedroom Hopper and Joyce switched off in. She heard him tell her to 'come in' from the other side of the door. He was freshly showered, his hair about as damp as Joyce's, and he was fully clothed from the waist down, but he was still buttoning his shirt.
"What's up, kid?" He didn't make eye contact, still looking at the buttons of his shirt.
"Me and Will and Johnathan want to go to the Wheeler's."
"Yeah, that's fine." He replied, slipping the last button through its slot.
"Ok, thanks dad, love you!"
"Love you too." He chuckled as she made her way back down the stairs.
"Come on guys, they're waiting for us." Will and Johnathan hid their confusion. They got in the car and Johnathan began to drive them to the Wheeler's.
"How does leaving the house completely help us find out if they're secretly dating or not?" Will asked.
"Well, I'm gonna spy on them while they're alone... to see if they do any coupley type of stuff."
"Oh... or we could just ask them?" Johnathan's eyes remained on the road while he spoke.
"We don't wanna embarrass them." Will suggested.
"Well spying on them will embarrass them anyways."
"What's the worst that could happen?" Eleven shrugged, leaning back in her seat. Johnathan didn't want to tell his little sister that the worst that could happen was that she could potentially see her parents having sex, that is, if they were together. So he'd just have to make sure that she doesn't see too much, just in case. As soon as they got to the Wheeler's they greeted Mike and Nancy and their parents and headed upstairs. It was normal that the group barged in with no warning.
"Could you fill the bathtub with cold water?" Jane asked Nancy, who nodded. She didn't ask what for because she could already assume.
"Who are you looking for?"
"My parents."
"Why? Are they okay?"
"Yup." Johnathan nodded.
"Then-"
Will cut off Mike. "We think they're secretly dating."
"Probably." Nancy called from a few feet away.

"Jim!" Joyce called from the kitchen. "They left!" He made his way downstairs.
"Just you and me then, babe."
"Mhm." She smiled gently. He made his way towards her, wound his arms around her torso, leaned his head down slightly, and planted a kiss to her hair.
"We should just tell them?" He mumbled into her scalp.
"I just don't want them to be weird about it..." she held one of the hands around her and stroked his knuckles.
"Mother knows best." He sighed. "I guess you'll just have to keep being my sneaky link." He frowned dramatically. She furrowed her eyebrows and slapped him on the arm.
"I am not a 'sneaky link,' I'm your girlfriend."
"Yet no one else knows, so maybe you're not a 'link' but you are my sneaky something." He smirked at her annoyed expression.
"I'm just gonna ignore you. Do you wanna watch a movie?"
"I'd much rather do something else." His voice went down a couple octaves.
"Fine, what do you wanna do?" Although she seemed so done with him, she did nothing to get rid of his arms that were around her.
"You." He replied calmly, leaning his face down even further to bury into the crook of her neck, where he nipped at her skin.
"Hop."
"What?"
"What movie?" She teased him, completely ignoring his suggestive commentary and actions.
"A scary one. Something gory and psychological."
"Ugh, you know I hate those."
"Yeah, I know. When we'd go to the movies as teens to see the new horror movies, you'd hold onto me and hide in my jacket." His smile was soft with the memories.
"We are not watching a horror movie." Her cheeks were pink despite her assertive response.
"Fine..."

Eleven sat in the ice cold bathtub, leaned back, with sunglasses covering her eyes.
"Tell is what you see." Will kneeled down beside the tub.

"Joyce. Joyce. Baby. Joy." He poked her thigh once for every time he said her name. She sighed.
"What? Im trying to watch the movie." He now gripped the leg his was tapping.
"Kiss me."
"Man, Hop, control your hormones, you're not a teenager."
"Please." He placed his chin on her shoulder. "You aren't paying any attention to me, it's not all the time we can be alone like this." She showed no sign of annoyance when she tilted her head to capture his lips to hers. She wound her arms around his neck and he smiled into their kiss. Neither of them pulled away.

"Guys." Jane smiled.
"What? What do you see?" Johnathan leaned in.
"They're kissing." Smile after smile spread to the teenagers.

Hopper finally separated his lips from Joyce's, took one breath, and began kissing and nipping at her neck. She laughed lightly, rubbing her fingers through the minimal hair he had. (Since it was still growing back.) She leaned her head so he'd kiss her again, and he sighed, taking her chin into his hand, stroking her jaw with his thumb while they made out.

"They're still kissing."
"Uh, El, that's probably enough, let's go play a game or something."
"Uno?" Jane loved Uno.
"Yup, Uno." Johnathan continued to get his sister away from spying on their parents before she saw something that would be forever burned into her memory.
"Okay!" She excitedly exited the bathroom, Mike draining the tub water and searching for a towel for Jane.

"James. Let's go upstairs."
"Yes ma'am."

The kids came back home a couple hours later.
"We know." Will blurted.
"Know what?" Joyce furrowed her eyebrows.
"That you're together." Johnathan finished.
"How?" Jim jumped in.
"I saw. I spied..." The two adults eyes went wide.
"El... where were we when you watched?"
"The living room...?"
"Just the living room?" Joyce asked the follow up question.
"Uh-huh." Johnathan face palmed. It's a good thing he paid attention.
"Well that's correct. We are together. And I do love your father, very much." Joyce wanted to make sure that it was clearly known.
"Aww, I love you too, short stuff."
"Shut up."
