asher and harold was already at the collins' house. avery hadn't come home on time. they were all waiting for her. she arrived home just from cheer practice.
"i told you we would be meeting here." lucy sternly said.
"sorry, i had cheer practice." she shrugged. "just go sit down."
she put her bags down at the kitchen. still in her cheer uniform sat at the available seat next to asher.
all of them seated, having conversations and eating. "so, avery how's school?" harold asked. "good straight A's."
"that's excellent. anything else?"
"i've been doing cheer. but that's it."
"i expected better." lucy mumbled, which avery rolled her eyes. "how's football asher?"
avery's shoulders slumped when her mom asked about asher instead of her. "it's good so far. new season coming up."
"avery, i heard from some people you're causing trouble." lucy accused.
avery scoffed. "no i'm not."
"please don't lie." lucy pleaded. "what about you? promising to be home when you aren't. a little girl waiting for their mom to come home to be ignored. being yelled and hit became an occurrence. hell you treat asher like a child than your own daughter!"
lucy slammed her hands on the table, with avery flinching from the sound. "don't talk to me like that."
avery stood up. "what? you never were around to check up on me. c'mon face it you blame me for dad's death. you blame me for everything. i just wanted my mom. but you seem to always care more about everyone else, but your daughter."
"that's not true. i just think you aren't doing your best."
avery rolled her eyes. "are you seeing this?" asking the two adams'. "i've done everything to please you. i get straight A's, i do sports. and i seem to disappoint you?"
it was silent. "this is why i stopped caring for you. i don't acknowledge you when you're here. cause it's same old lucy who doesn't care for her daughter. ever since dad died you've been like this. if you happened to know i lost him too. i blame myself for his death and so do you."
"i should've died in that car crash not him. and i know you've been wanting to hear that. but it's my fault. cause it's not worth living if you treat me like this." avery's voice broke.
"i'm done with this." lucy starting to walk away. "walk away like you always do. you did when dad died and you keep doing it again." lucy left slamming the door.
avery rolled her eyes going to the kitchen. "go check up on her asher. i need to talk to lucy."
asher nodded. avery sat down on the stool. her hand in her face she wanted to cry so bad. she wanted to just lean on someone and tell them her problems.
but she had no one. avery didn't want to burden olivia and layla with her problems. layla knew what she was going through. but not olivia because of rehab she was going through stuff.
"hey." asher approached. she lifted her head. "say what you want, i don't care. i mean you were right about today." avery said.
"didn't realize it was this bad."
"yeah." she drly chuckles. "she insults me on everything. get good grades. oh be better than asher. do a sport. you're so bad at cheerleading be like layla. be a good child like asher. he listens. don't be a slut." mocking her mom.
"i've heard it all. being compared by you. hell she likes you more than her own daughter."
"i'm sorry, i didn't realize how hard it is at home."
"it's fine, really, i don't care."
everyone was at the pool party. avery was wearing a white bikini set. she sat beside layla talking. asher was beside him closing his eyes.
"layla, can we-" avery tried getting layla's attention. but she was focused on spencer.
"layla?" she questioned. "huh?" layla asked. "you do know you have a boyfriend right?"
"i'll be back." layla said. avery rolled her eyes. jordan watched as layla sat next to spencer.
jordan went to go get drinks, sitting beside avery and asher. "you seeing this?" asher asked. "yeah." jordan nodded.
"we need to get rid of him." asher said.
avery walked away going inside the house.
she went to go see liv. avery knocked entering. "hey."
"hey. what's up?" liv said. "nothing, just got boring out there."
"figured. it's jordan's party." liv shrugged. "don't be rude. how you doing?"
"i'm doing pretty good."
"i'm glad. if you need anything i'm always here. besides we don't live too far from each other." avery chuckled.
"hey we gotta do a party, who's house at?" jordan asked. "avery's." JJ answered.
she rolled her eyes. "please av." layla pleaded. avery gave in,"fine."
"so avery what's with your mom?" lucy asked. "excuse me?" avery questioned. "you heard me."
"it's none of your business. why don't you go to your parents? oh wait you don't have any."
lucy stood up crying and left. "too da loo." avery waved. "you're brutal." layla chuckled. "what she started it. she just had to bring my mom up." avery said.
the party rolled up. mostly everyone in the backyard and kitchen. she had locked all doors not wanting anyone to enter besides the guest bedrooms.
"as requested." layla handed them shots. avery, jordan, asher and spencer. "oh no, we have practice tomorrow." spencer denied.
"come on, it's saturday practice. just a few drills. no big deal. trust me." jordan assured. "cheers." layla and avery downed their shot.
spencer took the shot. asher and jordan poured theirs.
avery was at the beverly hills football game as a cheerleader. she had her pom poms as the players entered the field.
then all the cheerleaders walked off the field. layla, hadley and lucy were on the bleachers cheering.
avery was on the side cheering. during these games the cheerleaders always do stunts and dances.
which was announced beverly won.
