everyone was all hanging out at the beach. layla and avery next to each other.

layla was writing in her notebook. avery as well, trying to think what stunts to do for the team, since she's captain.

spencer approached the two girls. "hey." spencer greeted. "hey, sorry about the party, i didn't mean to get you excessively drunk. i only offered one shot, not all the others." avery apologized. "all good. besides it was all jordan and asher."

"i'm gonna go." avery stood up going towards the boys.

"guy's hitting on my girl left and right, knocked me out of the game last week. that boy needs to go." asher said.

"seriously? we gave chatsworth the tip on his transfer permit to get him kicked out, ok? we tried." jordan said. "you tried."

"exactly. and look how that turned out. homeboy's living in my house now. face it ash. he's here to stay." jordan argued.

"woah you guys gave chatsworth the tip?" avery asked. "look avery-" jordan began.

"look what? if someone finds out about this you'll be in huge trouble. especially your dad will get pissed. i won't tell anyone but who knows if it'll get out."

lucy was in town because of the booster party. avery gotten ready. she wore a black long dress with a slit on the side.

the adams were at the house. lucy and harold drove together.

avery took her other car, the honda civic. avery drove to the party, with asher in passenger seat.

once they arrived lucy immediately left to talk to people. avery and asher went their separate ways. avery went to layla. harold went to the open bar.

billy, harold and lucy were all talking. "when they hired you i had high hopes. sure, your pro career was a bust. but, hey, that's the game." harold stated. asher and avery noticed harold talking crap.

"he's right. your family is horrible. hell my daughter is hanging with you guys, you're a bad influence, your whole family is." lucy added.

sure they weren't on the best terms. but still. avery walked over. "sorry coach-"

"after two losing seasons and with another on the way, guess you're just getting comfortable with losing." harold added.

"my family isn't. you're always out of town, how would you know anything about my children being a bad influence? you never met them." billy said.

avery stood a bit away from them. asher went towards them, next to avery.

"coach. i-i'm sorry." asher apologized. "why should you be sorry? he's the reason he got hurt. him and his son."

"what are you talking about?" baker asked.

"talking about how jordan was behind that contested permit, and now your crenshaw boy is brining his anger about this situation on out field, injuring my son!" harold yelled. a lot of people started going towards them to hear more.

"not a bad influence huh?" lucy taunted.

once harold yelled he held a grip onto avery. "let go."

"that's right. jordan baker's the one that gave the chatsworth the tip." harold added.

"are you serious? you're the reason i can't go home at night?" spencer questioned.

harold held a tight grip on avery, as she tried letting out, but he was strong for a drunk man.

avery breathed heavily. "dad that's enough you're hurting avery." asher said trying to pull away from the two.

"she's useless. c'mon lucy doesn't even care for her." harold said. lucy was just watching the scene unfold.

"ok that's enough stop hurting her." coach baker pushed him away. avery slightly fell but got back up.

she looked at her wrist seeing it super red, and there were blood coming out of the marks. her waist was also gripped hard.

"you ok?" billy asked. "um yeah." avery muttered.

avery left to go outside. asher convinced lucy to drive harold home, and he'll catch a ride.

she put her arms trying to warm herself up, because it was cold.

"hey. you ok?" asher asked. she turned to see him. "i will be."

"here." asher took off his blazer putting it on top of avery. "thanks."

"you're bleeding avery." he noticed on his wrist. "yeah, i'll clean it up once i get home. don't worry."

"i just want to apologize." asher started. "for what?"

"for all those mean stuff i said to you. and calling you a stuck up brat when you're not. this is the first time i'm seeing your mom act rude to you."

"it's been like that for years. you only saw it because i happened to go off on her. and i'm sorry for also the mean things i said."

"eh all good, weren't even bad. more like just calling me dick, bitch ya know." asher shrugged and chuckled. avery smiled. "you ready to go home?" avery asked. he nodded. "i'll drive."

she sighed and gave him her keys. the dress had pockets which was very handy.

asher drove to her house, and they entered. "you can stay over if you want. i have the guest bedroom. besides no one's here. my mom told us she'll be gone. so."

"yeah sure." asher said. they went upstairs showing the bedroom.

"you used to sleep here so all your clothes are still here. and restroom stuff ya know."

asher sometimes spent nights if lucy was here. also of parties as well.

avery left to go in her room. she gotten dressed in comfy clothes. removed makeup, did skincare and brushed her teeth.

avery left the blazer on her bed for now. she went in the supply room. she had looked for the first aid kit.

she sat down on the chair in there. "avery?" asher called. "in here."

avery took off her shirt leaving her in a sports bra. "uh the water isn't working."

"oh right. that one isn't working i haven't gotten it fixed. just go to the room beside mine."

"need help?" asher asked. "sure."

he had put on rubbing alcohol, which she hissed. "sorry."

asher cleaned up the wound and put dressing on it. "thanks."

she got up, putting the kit away. and showed asher the room.
