Chapter 4 - Eerie Premonitions
Oliver opened his eyes.
He was standing in front of the Virgilian Palace.
But the Virgilian Palace wasn't exactly in one piece.
The walls were cracked, the windows were shattered, and the formerly beautiful decorations were ripped into shreds.
Oh, and the whole thing was on fire.
Oliver took a step back, scared. He tried to recall his memories - how had this happened!?
He took another step back and felt his foot touch something wet. He looked down.
A puddle.
He was barefoot.
For a second, he was confused. Why was he barefoot?
Then, the realization hit him as he noticed he was wearing pajamas.
It was another dream. Another dream. Oliver rarely dreamt, but whenever he did, his dreams always came true. He had never told anyone about it, but ever since he rose from the ashes after World War 4.20, he had been able to have psychic dreams. They happened rarely, and they were usually minor things, but there was one rule about them that held for every single dream:
They always came true.
The details weren't necessarily identical, but the main idea always came true.
Always. There were no exceptions.
"Oliver!" someone yelled.
Oliver spun around.
Someone with a loaded shotgun was advancing toward him. No, not just someone - Oliver somehow knew this person's name. It was Dane, short for Dane Porter.
Dane has an ugly scar across the left side of his face - a result of an earlier skirmish with someone, surely. His mouth was curled into an evil sneer.
Oliver struggled to remember something - to remember anything - but his mind blanked.
Dane stopped and lifted his gun.
Before Oliver could react, Dane fired, instantly killing Oliver. Seconds later, Oliver woke up in the middle of the night with a jolt.
"Oh no," he thought. "Oh no..."
He wasn't the only one experiencing intense emotions at that moment in time.
Leon had finally arrived at the Dark Knights Compound.
As a reminder, Leon, the narrator of the story, had lived in an isolated jungle with his guinea pig STD and his extremely important laptop for the past few years, and after an emergency call from someone, he immediately packed up and headed to the Dark Knights headquarters. On his way, he had met Lucas, who Leon had told to return to the Dark Knights' lair.
The Dark Knights' base was located about 50 miles away from the edge of the Virgil empire, so they didn't really bother with heavy security since no one had any idea where they were.
Trekking across the desert was a suicidal mission - it was quite simply impossible.
The Dark Knights had alternate ways of getting into their headquarters, but more on that later.
