Chapter 9 - Inspect Element

At first, Mox had no idea what was happening.

He and the Dark Knights were attempting to retreat by using their standard retreating method - they were grouping up into a large circle and moving away from the castle walls slowly while fighting off the Virgil army.

But, since their retreat plan had absolutely no experience, it turned out they weren't super good at it.

That is, until the arrows started raining down.

The Virgil Army instantly retreated, running for shelter.

What Mox quickly realized, however, was that the arrows weren't hitting their targets...intentionally.

Someone was saving Mox and the Dark Knights without killing the Virgilian soldiers.

And Mox knew exactly who it was.

Neon.

Mox raised his sword into the air. "Dark Knights, retreat!!"

"How did Neon escape so fast?" Mox wondered. In any case, that wasn't the main problem right now. First, he and the remaining Dark Knights needed to retreat back to safety and flee back to their compound.

"Shit," Mox cursed. "I hope Leon and Daniel were able to kill Virgil, or else this was for nothing."

As the Dark Knights began hurrying back to the origin of the arrows, Mox made a mental headcount.

He realized it almost instantly. They had come with 28 Dark Knights, and there were only 21 remaining. Seven were dead.

They began running to Neon, and Mox realized something else. There were at least 40 Virgilian soldiers dead.

Mox grinned.

It was a good ratio.

Unfortunately, he knew that Virgil's army was completely unprepared and barely had any time to deploy, but still, it was an overwhelming victory for the Dark Knights. It would hopefully buy them extra time as the Virgil army would most likely be too afraid to launch an offensive without gathering more information first.

Still, Neon would not be happy when she found out that some of the Dark Knights had been killed.

Mox sighed as he retreated back to safety while the Virgil Army remained on defense as the Dark Knights fired arrows down on them. He followed the others behind the building behind which the other Dark Knights were shooting from.

He slowed down as he saw Neon yelling out commands to the archers.

He sighed.

This would not be a fun conversation.

As if she heard his thoughts, Neon turned around and noticed him.

She trudged over to him.

"Detain him," Neon commanded to two Dark Knights standing next to her. "Mox, you're under arrest, but we will talk later. The top priority is everyone's safety. Are all the Dark Knights who foolishly followed you in the attack already here?" she motioned to the group of Dark Knights that had retreated and were now surrounded by the Dark Knights which were followers of Neon.

Neon's followers had their weapons raised at Mox's followers. They were obviously not planning on shooting, but per Neon's commands, all of the Dark Knights which had participated in the attack were to be punished later.
