Before you begin your journey into The W2RLD, I think I should explain something.
This webnovel was not originally posted on Wattpad. It was something of a meme project that my associate, Leon the Man, made for a chess club that we both are in. Thus, the first 13 chapters of this story, which were penned by him, are mainly comedy chapters. They contain some pretty dubious(but lovable) humor, and the story is heavily based around funny 4th wall breaks and witty dialogue.
Now, after Leon finished writing his 13 chapters, and told the story he wanted to tell, he handed the IP off to me so that I could finish it and do the series justice. I, personally, think my writing has been solid, but since I don't know how to write comedy, the tone of my chapters and the tone of his chapters are completely different.
While Leon's portion of the story focuses on gut-busting humor designed to put a smile on your face no matter your current mood, my portion is an action-packed, character driven thriller with some occasional subtle jokes here and there.
Both genres of the story are equally entertaining to me, and the members of the chess club I was writing this for feel the same way, but an ordinary reader expecting to get a good laugh out of Chapter 14, only to realize the story had suddenly changed genres is a situation I want to avoid.
Now, don't worry, there is a pretty compelling in-universe reason for the tonal shift which makes the transition from comedy/thriller to action/thriller pretty seamless. So, if you're worried about any kind of whiplash, don't be.
However, I want my readers to understand that the comedy elements of the story don't last till the end. They get replaced by more developed characters, higher amounts of tension, and tighter prose. If that sounds good to you, then by all means, start reading Chapter 1 and enjoy the ride. But if that's something you won't like, this probably isn't the story for you. However, if you decide to start reading anyway, then don't say I didn't warn you.
