Chapter 10 - I Broke My Crayon

The marble floor. The beautiful red carpet. The brass doors. The one stupid brick that set off Curtis's OCD.

Everything looked the same as it had before the attack.

Thankfully, as Curtis marched down the corridor leading to King Virgil's throne room, he realized that the fire and attack had only damaged the front half of the castle. The throne room, and, more importantly, the laboratory, were safe.

"What laboratory?" you might ask.

"I'll tell you later," I [Leon] might answer.

It was currently 2 a.m. and Curtis Cress, the third senior advisor of King Virgil, was walking toward the throne room where he would discuss everything with Virgil.

As a reminder, Kira Cummings, Curtis Cress, and Neil Chambers were the three senior advisors of Virgil. However, Kira was currently captured by the Dark Knights, Neil was found out to be a spy and executed (lmao so much for Neil's arc), and Curtis was the last advisor remaining.

He approached the two guards guarding the golden doors.

He stopped, they nodded, and the doors opened, letting Curtis walk inside.

The inside of the throne room was exactly like Curtis had expected.

Although it was 2 a.m. - about half an hour after the attack by Mox, King Virgil and his femboy brother/sister/idfk spouse Queen Bonnie were sitting on their thrones.

"Curtis!" Virgil exclaimed as soon as the advisor entered.

"King Virgil the 69th, Leader of the Human Race and The Virgilian Empire and the Whole World, whom I pledge to have wet dreams about and to whose honor I shall name my future mistakes, I, Curtis Cress, your only remaining senior advisor, am at your service."

Curtis bowed.

"I'll cut to the chase," Virgil sighed, standing up. "We're in a bit of a pickle here. With ⅔ of the senior advisors and the Inspector Ethan Clarke gone, I am unable to cope with the situation at hand alone, which is why I called you. Curtis, just an hour ago, twenty Dark Knights attacked the castle and killed over 50, some of which were children. Nevertheless, you and General Byrd were able to summon the Virgil Army and force the Dark Knights into retreat. What is the state of the army right now, by the way?" Virgil inquired.

Before Curtis could reply, the doors opened and General Derek Byrd, dressed in...

...

...

And General Byrd, whose clothes apparently decided to take a vacation, walked inside the throne room.

"King Virgil," the general called out. "The army is positioned around the castle. We consider it highly unlikely that the Dark Knights will strike again, but we have increased both external and internal security to the maximum level. Their current goal is protection."

"I assume that means all the guards are wearing condoms?" Virgil inquired.

"Of course, my lord. As I like to say, protection and prevention are the secret to redemption."

"That makes absolutely no sense," Curtis complained.

"True," Derek responded. "However, it rhymes, which is more important than meaning. In any case, King Virgil, the army is ready to march toward the Dark Knights' Compound at your command."
